그때에 츨롭핫의 딸들이 앞으로 나왔다. 츨롭핫은 요셉의 아들 므나쎄 씨족에 속한 사람으로, 헤페르의 아들이고 길앗의 손자이며 마키르의 증손이고 므나쎄의 현손이다. 그 딸들의 이름은 마흘라, 노아, 호글라, 밀카, 티르차이다.

▶ Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph, had daughters named Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. They came forward,

그들은 만남의 천막 어귀에서 모세와 엘아자르 사제와 수장들과 온 공동체 앞에 서서 말하였다.

▶ and standing in the presence of Moses, the priest Eleazar, the princes, and the whole community at the entrance of the meeting tent, said:

“저희 아버지는 광야에서 돌아가셨습니다. 그분은 주님을 거슬러 모여든 무리, 곧 코라의 무리 속에 끼지 않으셨습니다. 다만 당신의 죄로 돌아가셨을 따름입니다. 그런데 저희 아버지에게는 아들이 없습니다.

▶ "Our father died in the desert. Although he did not join those who banded together against the LORD (in Korah's band), he died for his own sin without leaving any sons.

|
그러나 아들이 없다고 해서 저희 아버지의 이름이 당신 씨족 가운데에서 없어져서야 어찌 되겠습니까? 저희 아버지의 형제들과 더불어 저희에게도 소유지를 주십시오.”

|
|
|
▶ But why should our father's name be withdrawn from his clan merely because he had no son? Let us, therefore, have property among our father's kinsmen."

모세가 그들의 소송건을 주님 앞으로 가져가니,

▶ When Moses laid their case before the LORD,

주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.

▶ the LORD said to him,
|
|

“츨롭핫의 딸들이 하는 말이 옳다. 너는 그들 아버지의 형제들과 더불어 그들에게도 반드시 상속 재산으로 소유지를 주어라. 그들 아버지의 상속 재산이 그들에게 넘어가게 하여라.

▶ "The plea of Zelophehad's daughters is just; you shall give them hereditary property among their father's kinsmen, letting their father's heritage pass on to them.
|

|
그리고 너는 이스라엘 자손들에게 일러두어라. ‘누구든지 아들 없이 죽으면, 그의 상속 재산은 딸에게 넘어가게 하여라.

▶ Therefore, tell the Israelites: If a man dies without leaving a son, you shall let his heritage pass on to his daughter;
|

만일 딸이 없으면, 그의 상속 재산을 그의 형제들에게 주어라.

|
|
▶ if he has no daughter, you shall give his heritage to his brothers;
|
|
10
|
형제들도 없으면, 그 상속 재산을 그의 아버지 형제들에게 주어라.

▶ if he has no brothers, you shall give his heritage to his father's brothers;
|
|
11
|
그의 아버지에게 형제들이 없으면, 그의 씨족 가운데에서 그에게 가장 가까운 친족에게 주어 그것을 소유하게 하여라.’ 이는 주님이 모세에게 명령한 대로, 이스라엘 자손들이 지켜야 할 법 규정이 되어야 한다.”

▶ if his father had no brothers, you shall give his heritage to his nearest relative in his clan, who shall then take possession of it." This is the legal norm for the Israelites, as the LORD commanded Moses.

▶ Joshua To Succeed Moses

|
주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 이 아바림 산으로 올라가, 내가 이스라엘 자손들에게 준 땅을 바라보아라.

|
|
▶ The LORD said to Moses, "Go up here into the Abarim Mountains and view the land that I am giving to the Israelites.
|

|
그 땅을 바라본 다음에는, 너의 형 아론이 간 것처럼 너도 선조들 곁으로 가게 될 것이다.

|
|
|
▶ When you have viewed it, you too shall be taken to your people, as was your brother Aaron,
|
|

|
이는 친 광야에서 공동체가 시비를 걸어올 때, 그들이 보는 앞에서 물로 나의 거룩함을 드러내라는 내 분부를 너희가 거역하였기 때문이다.” 이 물은 친 광야에 있는 므리밧 카데스의 물을 가리킨다.

▶ because in the rebellion of the community in the desert of Zin you both rebelled against my order to manifest my sanctity to them by means of the water." (This is the water of Meribah of Kadesh in the desert of Zin.)

모세가 주님께 아뢰었다.

▶ Then Moses said to the LORD,
|
|

|
“모든 육체에게 영을 주시는 주 하느님께서는 이 공동체 위에 한 사람을 세우시기 바랍니다.
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
▶ "May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all mankind, set over the community a man
|
|
17
|
그들 앞에 서서 나가고 그들 앞에 서서 들어오는 사람, 그들을 데리고 나가고 그들을 데리고 들어오는 사람입니다. 그리하여 주님의 공동체가 목자 없는 양 떼처럼 되지 않게 하시기를 바랍니다.”

|
▶ who shall act as their leader in all things, to guide them in all their actions; that the LORD'S community may not be like sheep without a shepherd."

|
주님께서 모세에게 대답하셨다. “눈의 아들 여호수아를 데려오너라. 그는 영을 지닌 사람이다. 너는 그에게 네 손을 얹어라.

|
▶ And the LORD replied to Moses, "Take Joshua, son of Nun, a man of spirit, and lay your hand upon him.
|

|
그리고 그를 엘아자르 사제와 온 공동체 앞에 세워, 그들이 보는 앞에서 임명하여라.

|
|
|
|
▶ Have him stand in the presence of the priest Eleazar and of the whole community, and commission him before their eyes.
|
|
20
|
너의 권위 가운데 일부를 그에게 주어, 이스라엘 자손들의 온 공동체가 그에게 순종하게 하여라.

|
|
|
▶ Invest him with some of your own dignity, that the whole Israelite community may obey him.
|
|
21
|
그러나 그는 엘아자르 사제 앞에 서야 한다. 그러면 엘아자르가 주님 앞에서, 그에게 어떤 결정이 내려질지 우림으로 물어볼 것이다. 여호수아와 이스라엘의 모든 자손, 곧 온 공동체는 그의 지시에 따라 나가고 그의 지시에 따라 들어와야 한다.”

▶ He shall present himself to the priest Eleazar, to have him seek out for him the decisions of the Urim in the LORD'S presence; and as he directs, Joshua, all the Israelites with him, and the community as a whole shall perform all their actions."

모세는 주님께서 명령하신 대로 하였다. 그는 여호수아를 데려다가 엘아자르 사제와 온 공동체 앞에 세웠다.

▶ Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. Taking Joshua and having him stand in the presence of the priest Eleazar and of the whole community,

모세는 주님께서 자기를 통하여 이르신 대로, 그에게 자기 손을 얹고 그를 임명하였다.

▶ he laid his hands on him and gave him his commission, as the LORD had directed through Moses.
