▶ "When all these things which I have set before you, the blessings and the curses, are fulfilled in you, and from among whatever nations the LORD, your God, may have dispersed you, you ponder them in your heart:

주 너희 하느님께 돌아와서, 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 대로 너희와 너희의 아들들이 마음을 다하고 정신을 다하여 그분의 말씀을 들으면,

▶ then, provided that you and your children return to the LORD, your God, and heed his voice with all your heart and all your soul, just as I now command you,

|
주 너희 하느님께서 너희의 운명을 되돌려 주실 것이다. 주 너희 하느님께서는 또 너희를 가엾이 여기시어, 주 너희 하느님께서 너희를 흩어 버리신 모든 민족들에게서 너희를 다시 모아들이실 것이다.

▶ the LORD, your God, will change your lot; and taking pity on you, he will again gather you from all the nations wherein he has scattered you.

너희가 하늘 끝까지 쫓겨났다 하더라도, 주 너희 하느님께서는 그곳에서 너희를 모아들이시고 그곳에서 너희를 데려오실 것이다.

▶ Though you may have been driven to the farthest corner of the world, even from there will the LORD, your God, gather you; even from there will he bring you back.

주 너희 하느님께서는 너희 조상들이 차지하였던 땅으로 너희를 들어가게 하시어, 너희가 그 땅을 차지하고 조상들보다 더 잘되고 번성하게 해 주실 것이다.

▶ The LORD, your God, will then bring you into the land which your fathers once occupied, that you too may occupy it, and he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.

주 너희 하느님께서는 너희의 마음과 너희 후손의 마음에 할례를 베푸시어, 너희가 마음을 다하고 정신을 다하여 주 너희 하느님을 사랑하게 하셔서, 너희를 살게 해 주실 것이다.

▶ The LORD, your God, will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, that you may love the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and so may live.

또한 주 너희 하느님께서는 너희의 원수들과, 너희를 미워하며 쫓아다니던 자들 위에 이 모든 저주를 내리실 것이다.

▶ But all those curses the LORD, your God, will assign to your enemies and the foes who persecuted you.

그때에 너희는 돌아와서 주님의 말씀을 듣고, 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 그분의 모든 계명을 실천할 것이다.

▶ You, however, must again heed the LORD'S voice and carry out all his commandments which I now enjoin on you.

그러면 주 너희 하느님께서는 너희 손이 하는 모든 일과, 너희 몸의 소생과 너희 가축의 새끼와 너희 땅의 소출을 풍성하게 해 주실 것이다. 주님께서 너희 조상들을 두고 흐뭇해하셨듯이, 정녕 다시 너희의 번영을 두고 기뻐하실 것이다.

▶ Then the LORD, your God, will increase in more than goodly measure the returns from all your labors, the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil; for the LORD, your God, will again take delight in your prosperity, even as he took delight in your fathers',

너희가 주 너희 하느님의 말씀을 듣고, 이 율법서에 쓰인 그분의 계명들과 규정들을 지키며, 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하여 주 너희 하느님께 돌아오면 그러하실 것이다.”

▶ "For this command which I enjoin on you today is not too mysterious and remote for you.
|

|
그것은 하늘에 있지도 않다. 그러니 ‘누가 하늘로 올라가서 그것을 가져다가 우리에게 들려주리오? 그러면 우리가 실천할 터인데.’ 하고 말할 필요가 없다.

▶ It is not up in the sky, that you should say, 'Who will go up in the sky to get it for us and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?'

|
또 그것은 바다 건너편에 있지도 않다. 그러니 ‘누가 바다 저쪽으로 건너가서 그것을 가져다가 우리에게 들려주리오? 그러면 우리가 실천할 터인데.’ 하고 말할 필요도 없다.

▶ Nor is it across the sea, that you should say, 'Who will cross the sea to get it for us and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?'

사실 그 말씀은 너희에게 아주 가까이 있다. 너희의 입과 너희의 마음에 있기 때문에, 너희가 그 말씀을 실천할 수 있는 것이다.”

내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 주 너희 하느님의 계명을 듣고, 주 너희 하느님을 사랑하며 그분의 길을 따라 걷고, 그분의 계명과 규정과 법규들을 지키면, 너희가 살고 번성할 것이다. 또 주 너희 하느님께서는 너희가 차지하러 들어가는 땅에서 너희에게 복을 내리실 것이다.

▶ I tell you now that you will certainly perish; you will not have a long life on the land which you are crossing the Jordan to enter and occupy.

나는 오늘 하늘과 땅을 증인으로 세우고, 생명과 죽음, 축복과 저주를 너희 앞에 내놓았다. 너희와 너희 후손이 살려면 생명을 선택해야 한다.

또한 주 너희 하느님을 사랑하고 그분의 말씀을 들으며 그분께 매달려야 한다. 주님은 너희의 생명이시다. 그리고 너희의 조상 아브라함과 이사악과 야곱에게 주시겠다고 맹세하신 땅에서 너희가 오랫동안 살 수 있게 해 주실 분이시다.”
