|
이스라엘 자손들이 다시 주님의 눈에 거슬리는 악한 짓을 저질렀다. 그리하여 주님께서는 그들을 마흔 해 동안 필리스티아인들의 손에 넘겨 버리셨다.

▶ The Israelites again offended the LORD, who therefore delivered them into the power of the Philistines for forty years.

그때에 초르아 출신으로 단 씨족에 속한 사람이 하나 있었는데, 그의 이름은 마노아였다. 그의 아내는 임신할 수 없는 몸이어서 자식을 낳지 못하였다.

▶ There was a certain man from Zorah, of the clan of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. His wife was barren and had borne no children.

그런데 주님의 천사가 그 여자에게 나타나서 말하였다. “보라, 너는 임신할 수 없는 몸이어서 자식을 낳지 못하였지만, 이제 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이다.

▶ An angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, "Though you are barren and have had no children, yet you will conceive and bear a son.

그러니 앞으로 조심하여 포도주도 독주도 마시지 말고, 부정한 것은 아무것도 먹지 마라.

▶ Now, then, be careful to take no wine or strong drink and to eat nothing unclean.
|

|
네가 임신하여 아들을 낳을 것이기 때문이다. 그리고 아기의 머리에 면도칼을 대어서는 안 된다. 그 아이는 모태에서부터 이미 하느님께 바쳐진 나지르인이 될 것이다. 그가 이스라엘을 필리스티아인들의 손에서 구원해 내기 시작할 것이다.”

▶ As for the son you will conceive and bear, no razor shall touch his head, for this boy is to be consecrated to God from the womb. It is he who will begin the deliverance of Israel from the power of the Philistines."

그러자 그 여자가 남편에게 가서 말하였다. “하느님의 사람이 나에게 오셨는데, 그 모습이 하느님 천사의 모습 같아서 너무나 두려웠습니다. 그래서 나는 그분이 어디에서 오셨는지 묻지도 못하였고, 그분도 당신 이름을 알려 주지 않으셨습니다.

▶ The woman went and told her husband, "A man of God came to me; he had the appearance of an angel of God, terrible indeed. I did not ask him where he came from, nor did he tell me his name.

그런데 그분이 나에게, ‘보라, 너는 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이다. 그러니 앞으로 포도주도 독주도 마시지 말고, 부정한 것은 아무것도 먹지 마라. 그 아이는 모태에서부터 죽는 날까지 하느님께 바쳐진 나지르인이 될 것이다.’ 하고 말씀하셨습니다.”

▶ But he said to me, 'You will be with child and will bear a son. So take neither wine nor strong drink, and eat nothing unclean. For the boy shall be consecrated to God from the womb, until the day of his death.'"

그래서 마노아가 주님께 기도하였다. “주님, 외람된 말씀입니다만, 당신께서 보내신 하느님의 사람이 저희에게 다시 와서, 태어날 아이에게 저희가 어떻게 해야 할지를 가르치게 해 주십시오.”

▶ Manoah then prayed to the LORD. "O LORD, I beseech you," he said, "may the man of God whom you sent, return to us to teach us what to do for the boy who will be born."

하느님께서는 마노아의 말을 들어 주시어, 하느님의 천사를 그 여자에게 다시 가게 하셨다. 그때에 그 여자는 들에 앉아 있었고 그의 남편 마노아는 함께 있지 않았다.

▶ God heard the prayer of Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman as she was sitting in the field. Since her husband Manoah was not with her,

그래서 그 여자는 급히 남편에게 달려가 알렸다. “이봐요, 저번에 나에게 오셨던 그분이 나타나셨어요.”

▶ the woman ran in haste and told her husband. "The man who came to me the other day has appeared to me," she said to him;

마노아는 일어나 아내를 뒤따라갔다. 그 사람이 있는 곳에 다다른 그는, “당신께서 전에 이 여자에게 말씀하신 분이십니까?” 하고 물었다. 그가 “그렇다.” 하고 대답하자,

▶ so Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he reached the man, he said to him, "Are you the one who spoke to my wife?" "Yes," he answered.

마노아가 그에게 또 물었다. “앞으로 당신의 말씀이 이루어지면, 그 아이는 어떤 사람이 되며 또 무슨 일을 해야 합니까?”

▶ Then Manoah asked, "Now, when that which you say comes true, what are we expected to do for the boy?"

그러자 주님의 천사가 마노아에게 말하였다. “내가 말한 모든 것을 저 여자는 명심해야 한다.

▶ The angel of the LORD answered Manoah, "Your wife is to abstain from all the things of which I spoke to her.
|

|
저 여자는 포도나무에서 나는 것은 아무것도 먹어서는 안 된다. 포도주도 독주도 마셔서는 안 되고, 부정한 것은 아무것도 먹어서는 안 된다. 내가 명령한 모든 것을 저 여자는 지켜야 한다.”

▶ She must not eat anything that comes from the vine, nor take wine or strong drink, nor eat anything unclean. Let her observe all that I have commanded her."

|
마노아가 주님의 천사에게 “새끼 염소를 한 마리 잡아 올리겠으니 좀 기다려 주시겠습니까?” 하고 물었다.

▶ Then Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, "Can we persuade you to stay, while we prepare a kid for you?"

|
그러자 주님의 천사가 마노아에게 대답하였다. “내가 기다리기는 하여도 네가 준비한 음식을 먹지는 않겠다. 그러나 주님께 번제물을 드리고 싶으면 그렇게 하여라.” 마노아는 그가 주님의 천사라는 사실을 알지 못하였던 것이다.

▶ But the angel of the LORD answered Manoah, "Although you press me, I will not partake of your food. But if you will, you may offer a holocaust to the LORD."Not knowing that it was the angel of the LORD,

마노아가 다시 주님의 천사에게, “당신의 이름은 무엇입니까? 그래야 당신의 말씀이 이루어지면, 저희가 당신을 공경할 수 있지 않겠습니까?” 하고 물었다.

▶ Manoah said to him, "What is your name, that we may honor you when your words come true?"

그러나 주님의 천사는, “내 이름은 무엇 때문에 물어보느냐? 그것은 신비한 것이다.” 하고 대답하였다.

▶ The angel of the LORD answered him, "Why do you ask my name, which is mysterious?"

|
그제야 마노아는 새끼 염소 한 마리와 곡식 예물을 가져다가 바위 위에서, ‘신비한 일을 하시는 분’ 주님께 바쳤다. 그러고 나서 마노아는 아내와 함께 지켜보았다.

▶ Then Manoah took the kid with a cereal offering and offered it on the rock to the LORD, whose works are mysteries. While Manoah and his wife were looking on,

그때에 제단에서 불길이 하늘로 올라가는데, 주님의 천사도 그 제단의 불길을 타고 올라가는 것이었다. 이를 보고 마노아와 그의 아내는 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드렸다.

▶ as the flame rose to the sky from the altar, the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell prostrate to the ground;

|
주님의 천사는 마노아와 그의 아내에게 다시는 나타나지 않았다. 그제야 마노아는 그분이 주님의 천사였다는 것을 알았다.

▶ but the angel of the LORD was seen no more by Manoah and his wife. Then Manoah, realizing that it was the angel of the LORD,

그래서 마노아는 아내에게 말하였다. “하느님을 뵈었으니 우리는 틀림없이 죽을 것이오.”

|
▶ said to his wife, "We will certainly die, for we have seen God."
|
|

|
그러자 그의 아내가 그에게, “만일 주님께서 우리를 죽이려 하셨다면, 우리 손에서 번제물과 곡식 제물을 받지 않으셨을 것입니다. 우리에게 이 모든 일을 보여 주지도 않으시고, 이와 같은 것을 들려주지도 않으셨을 것입니다.” 하고 말하였다.

▶ But his wife pointed out to him, "If the LORD had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a holocaust and cereal offering from our hands! Nor would he have let us see all this just now, or hear what we have heard."

|
그 여자는 아들을 낳고 이름을 삼손이라 하였다. 아이는 자라나고 주님께서는 그에게 복을 내려 주셨다.

▶ The woman bore a son and named him Samson. The boy grew up and the LORD blessed him;

|
그가 초르아와 에스타올 사이에 자리 잡은 ‘단의 진영’에 있을 때, 주님의 영이 그를 움직이기 시작하였다.

▶ the spirit of the LORD first stirred him in Mahaneh-dan, which is between Zorah and Eshtaol.
