▶ This is the contents of the letter which the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the remaining elders among the exiles, to the priests, the prophets, and all the people who were exiled by Nebuchadnezzar from Jerusalem to Babylon.

그것은 여콘야 임금과 그 모후와 내시들과 유다와 예루살렘의 대신들과 장인들과 대장장이들이 예루살렘에서 떠난 뒤였다.

▶ This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the courtiers, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the artisans and the skilled workmen had left Jerusalem.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon:

"너희는 그곳에 집을 지어 정착하고, 과수원도 만들어 그 열매를 따 먹어라.

▶ Build houses to dwell in; plant gardens, and eat their fruits.
|

아내를 맞아들여 아들딸을 낳고, 너희 아들들을 장가보내고 너희 딸들을 시집보내어, 그들도 아들딸을 낳고 그곳에서 번성하여 줄어들지 않게 하여라.

|
|
▶ Take wives and beget sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters. There you must increase in number, not decrease.

또한 너희는 내가 너희를 유배 보낸 그곳에서 그 성읍의 평화를 구하고, 그 성읍을 위하여 주님에게 기도하여라. 너희의 평화가 그 성읍의 평화에 달려 있다.

▶ Promote the welfare of the city to which I have exiled you; pray for it to the LORD, for upon its welfare depends your own.

- 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. - 너희 가운데에 있는 예언자들과 점쟁이들이 너희를 속이도록 내버려 두지 말고, 너희가 꾼 꿈을 풀이하려고 하지 마라.

▶ thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let yourselves be deceived by the prophets and diviners who are among you; do not listen to those among you who dream dreams.

▶ For they prophesy lies to you in my name; I did not send them, says the LORD.

주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. "너희가 바빌론에서 일흔 해를 다 채우면 내가 너희를 찾아, 너희를 이곳에 다시 데려오리라는 은혜로운 나의 약속을 너희에게 이루어 주겠다.

▶ Thus says the LORD: Only after seventy years have elapsed for Babylon will I visit you and fulfill for you my promise to bring you back to this place.

나는 너희를 위하여 몸소 마련한 계획을 분명히 알고 있다. 주님의 말씀이다. 그것은 평화를 위한 계획이지 재앙을 위한 계획이 아니므로, 나는 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주고자 한다.

▶ For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope.

▶ When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart,

내가 너희를 만나 주겠다. 주님의 말씀이다. 그러면 내가 너희 운명을 되돌려 주어, 내가 너희를 쫓아 보낸 모든 민족들과 모든 지역에서 너희를 모아 오겠다. 주님의 말씀이다. 내가 너희를 유배 보냈던 이곳으로 너희를 다시 데리고 오겠다."

▶ you will find me with you, says the LORD, and I will change your lot; I will gather you together from all the nations and all the places to which I have banished you, says the LORD, and bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.

주님께서 다윗 왕좌에 앉아 있는 임금과 이 도성에 살고 있는 온 백성, 곧 너희와 함께 유배되지 않은 너희 형제들을 두고 이렇게 말씀하신다.

▶ Thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on David's throne, and all the people who remain in this city, your brethren who did not go with you into exile;

내가 칼과 굶주림과 흑사병으로 그들을 쫓아가, 그들을 세상의 모든 나라에 공포의 대상으로 만들고, 내가 그리로 몰아낸 모든 민족들 사이에서 저주와 놀람과 놀림감과 수치의 대상이 되게 하였다.

▶ I will pursue them with sword, famine, and pestilence, and make them an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, of malediction, astonishment, ridicule, and reproach to all the nations among which I will banish them.

만군의 주 이스라엘의 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. "내 이름으로 너희에게 거짓을 예언하고 있는 콜라야의 아들 아합과 마아세야의 아들 치드키야를 두고 하는 말이다. 내가 이제 그들을 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르의 손에 넘기면, 그가 너희 눈앞에서 그들을 죽일 것이다.

▶ This is what the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, has to say about those who prophesy lies to you in my name, Ahab, son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah, son of Maaseiah: I am handing them over to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, who will slay them before your eyes.

그리고 그들로 말미암아, 바빌론에 살고 있는 유다의 모든 유배자들 사이에, '주님께서 너를 바빌론 임금이 화형에 처한 치드키야와 아합처럼 만들어 버리시리라.' 하는 저주가 생겨날 것이다.

▶ All the exiles of Judah in Babylon will pattern a curse after them: "May the LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the flames."

이는 그들이 이스라엘 안에서 추잡한 짓을 저질렀기 때문이다. 그들은 제 이웃의 아내와 간음하고, 내가 명령하지도 않은 거짓말을 내 이름으로 하였다. 이를 내가 알고 있다. 내가 증인이다. 주님의 말씀이다."

▶ For they are criminals in Israel, committing adultery with their neighbors' wives, and alleging in my name things I did not command. I know, I am witness, says the LORD.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Because you sent letters on your own authority to all the people of Jerusalem, to all the priests and to Zephaniah, the priest, son of Maaseiah, with this message:

'주님께서 여호야다 사제 대신 당신을 사제로 세우신 것은, 당신이 주님의 집 관리자가 되어, 예언자 행세를 하는 미친 자들을 붙잡아 기둥에 묶고 목에 칼을 씌우게 하시려는 것이었습니다.

▶ "The LORD has appointed you priest in place of the priest Jehoiada, so that there may be police officers in the house of the LORD, to take action against all madmen and those who pose as prophets, by putting them into the stocks or the pillory.

▶ Why, then, do you not rebuke Jeremiah of Anathoth who poses as a prophet among you?

사실 그는 바빌론에 있는 우리에게, 아직 때가 멀었으니 집을 지어 정착하고 과수원도 만들어 그 열매를 따 먹으라는 말을 전하였습니다.''"

▶ Send the message to all the exiles: Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah, the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah prophesies to you without a mission from me, and raises false confidence,

- 그러므로 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. - 내가 네헬람 사람 스마야와 그의 후손들을 징벌하겠다. 그의 후손 가운데에는 이 백성과 어울려 살 자가 아무도 없고, 내 백성을 위해 내가 베푸는 복을 누릴 자도 없을 것이다. 주님의 말씀이다. 그가 주님에게 거역하는 말을 하였기 때문이다."

▶ says the LORD, I will therefore punish Shemaiah, the Nehelamite, and his offspring. None of them shall survive among this people to see the good I will do to this people, says the LORD, because he preached rebellion against the LORD.
