▶ The word which the LORD spoke against Babylon, against the land of the Chaldeans, through the prophet Jeremiah:

|
민족들 가운데에서 알리고 선포하여라. 깃발을 올리고 선포하며 아무것도 숨기지 말고 전하여라. “바빌론이 점령된다. 벨이 수치를 당하고 므로닥이 공포에 질린다. 신상들이 수치를 당하고 우상들이 공포에 질린다.”

▶ Announce and publish it among the nations; publish it, hide it not, but say: Babylon is taken, Bel confounded, Merodach shattered; her images are put to shame, her idols shattered.

|
북녘에서 한 민족이 바빌론을 치러 와 그 땅을 폐허로 만든다. 그러면 그곳에 사는 자 아무도 없고 사람도 짐승도 도망쳐 가리라.

▶ A people from the north advances against her to turn her land into a desert, So that no one shall live there, because man and beast have fled away.

|
그날과 그때에 이스라엘 자손들과 유다 자손들이 함께 오리라. 주님의 말씀이다. 그들은 울며 돌아와서 주 그들의 하느님을 찾으리라.

▶ In those days, at that time, says the LORD, the men of Israel and of Judah shall come, Weeping as they come, to seek the LORD, their God;

그들은 시온으로 오는 길을 물어 그들의 얼굴을 이곳으로 향하리라. 그들은 돌아와 잊히지 않을 영원한 계약으로 주님과 결합하리라.

▶ to their goal in Zion they shall ask the way. "Come, let us join ourselves to the LORD with covenant everlasting, never to be forgotten."

내 백성은 잃어버린 양 떼였으니 목자들이 그들을 잘못 이끌어 산에서 헤매게 하였다. 그들은 산에서 언덕으로 떠돌아다니며 제 보금자리마저 잊어버렸다.

▶ Lost sheep were my people, their shepherds misled them, straggling on the mountains; From mountain to hill they wandered, losing the way to their fold.

만나는 자들마다 그들을 잡아먹었다. 그들의 원수들은 “우리에게는 죄가 없다. 그들이 자신들의 참된 처소이시며 자기네 조상들의 희망이신 주님께, 그 주님께 죄를 지은 탓이다.” 하고 말하였다.

▶ Whoever came upon them devoured them, and their enemies said, "We incur no guilt, Because they sinned against the LORD, the hope of their fathers, their abode of justice."

|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
바빌론 한가운데에서, 칼데아인들의 땅에서 도망하여라. 거기에서 빠져나와 양 떼 앞에서 걷는 숫염소들처럼 앞장을 서라.

▶ Flee from Babylon, leave the land of the Chaldeans, be like the rams at the head of the flock.

|
이제 내가 큰 민족들의 무리를 일으켜 바빌론을 쳐들어가게 하리라. 그들이 북녘 땅에서 내려와 바빌론에 맞서 전열을 갖추니 바로 그 자리에서부터 바빌론은 정복당하리라. 그들의 화살은 빈손으로 돌아오지 않는 노련한 용사와 같으리라.

▶ See, I am stirring up against Babylon a band of great nations from the north; from there they advance, and she shall be taken. Their arrows are arrows of the skilled warrior; none shall return without effect.

칼데아인들이 약탈당할 것이니 그 약탈자들이 모두 흡족해하리라. 주님의 말씀이다.

▶ Chaldea shall be their plunder, and all her plunderers shall be enriched, says the LORD.

|
나의 소유를 빼앗은 자들아 너희가 참으로 즐거워하고 기뻐 뛰지만, 초원의 송아지처럼 뛰어다니고 힘센 말처럼 소리를 지르지만,

▶ Yes, rejoice and exult, you that plunder my portion; Frisk like calves on the green, snort like stallions!

|
너희 어머니가 큰 수치를 당하고 너희를 낳은 여인이 수모를 당하리라. 보라, 민족들 가운데 가장 뒤떨어진 민족, 메마른 광야와 사막을!

▶ Your mother shall be sorely put to shame, she that bore you shall be abashed; See, the last of the nations, a desert, dry and waste.

|
주님의 진노 때문에 그곳은 인적이 끊기고 온통 폐허가 되리라. 바빌론을 지나는 사람마다 깜짝 놀라고 그 모든 참상을 두고 비웃으리라.

▶ Because of the LORD'S wrath she shall be empty, and become a total desert; Everyone who passes by Babylon will be appalled and catch his breath, at all her wounds.

활을 당기는 자들아 모두 바빌론을 에워싸고 전열을 갖추어라. 그 성읍을 향하여 화살을 아끼지 말고 쏘아라. ─ 그가 주님께 죄를 지었다. ─

▶ Take your posts encircling Babylon, you who bend the bow; Shoot at her, spare not your arrows,

|
너희는 사방에서 그를 향하여 함성을 올려라. 그 성읍이 손을 들었다. 보루가 쓰러지고 성벽이 무너졌다. 이것은 주님의 복수이니, 너희도 바빌론에게 복수하여라. 바빌론이 한 대로 그에게 해 주어라.

▶ raise the war cry against her on all sides. She surrenders, her bastions fall, her walls are torn down: Vengeance of the LORD is this! Take revenge on her, as she has done, do to her; for she sinned against the LORD.

|
씨 뿌리는 자와 수확 때에 낫을 든 자를 바빌론에서 없애 버려라. 무자비한 칼 때문에 모두 제 백성에게 돌아가고 모두 제 나라로 도망치리라.

▶ Cut off from Babylon the sower and him who wields the sickle in harvest time! Before the destroying sword, each of them turns to his own people, everyone flees to his own land.

이스라엘은 사자들에게 쫓겨 흩어진 양과 같다. 처음에는 아시리아 임금이 잡아먹고, 마지막에는 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르가 그 뼈를 씹어 먹었다.

▶ A stray sheep was Israel that lions pursued; Formerly the king of Assyria devoured her, now Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon gnaws her bones.

그러므로 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. “이제 내가 아시리아 임금에게 벌을 내렸듯이, 바빌론 임금과 그 나라에도 벌을 내리겠다.

▶ Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as once I punished the king of Assyria;

내가 이스라엘을 그 목장으로 되돌아가게 하리니 그가 카르멜과 바산에서 풀을 뜯고 에프라임 산악 지방과 길앗에서 배불리 먹으리라.

▶ But I will bring back Israel to her fold, to feed on Carmel and Bashan, And on Mount Ephraim and Gilead, till she has her fill.

그날과 그때에 이스라엘의 죄악을 찾으려 해도 전혀 찾지 못하고 유다의 죄를 찾으려 해도 발견하지 못하리라. 주님의 말씀이다. 내가 살아남게 한 자들을 용서할 것이기 때문이다.”

▶ In those days, at that time, says the LORD: They shall seek Israel's guilt, but it shall be no more, and Judah's sins, but these shall no longer be found; for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.

므라타임 땅을 치러 올라가라. 그곳을 치러, 프콧의 주민들을 치러 올라가라. 그들을 쫓아가 모조리 없애 버려라. 주님의 말씀이다. 내가 너에게 명령한 대로 모두 실행하여라.

어쩌다가 온 세상을 내리치던 망치가 부러지고 깨졌는가? 어쩌다가 바빌론이 민족들 가운데에서 놀람 거리가 되었는가?

|
▶ How has the hammer of the whole earth been broken and shattered! What an object of horror Babylon has become among the nations.

|
바빌론아, 내가 너를 잡으려고 올가미를 놓았는데 너는 그걸 모르고 걸려들었구나. 네가 주님께 대들었기에 피하지 못하고 붙잡힌 것이다.

|
|
▶ You ensnared yourself, and were caught, O Babylon, before you knew it! You were discovered and seized, because you challenged the LORD.

|
주님께서 무기고를 열고 당신 분노의 병기들을 꺼내 놓으셨다. 주 만군의 주님께서 칼데아 땅에서 하실 일이 있기 때문이다.

|
▶ The LORD opens his armory and brings forth the weapons of his wrath; For the Lord GOD of hosts has work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.

|
사방에서 바빌론으로 쳐들어가 그곳의 곡식 창고를 열어라. 바빌론을 낟가리처럼 쌓아 올리고 없애 버려라. 그리하여 그곳에 아무것도 남겨 놓지 마라.

▶ Come upon her from every side, open her granaries, Pile up her goods in heaps and doom it, leave not a remnant.

|
바빌론의 모든 황소들을 죽이고 그들을 도살장으로 끌고 가라. 그들은 불행하여라! 그들의 날, 그들이 벌받을 때가 왔다.

▶ Slay all her oxen, let them go down to the slaughter; Woe to them! their day has come, the time of their punishment.

들어라! 바빌론 땅에서 도망친 자들과 빠져나온 자들이 외치는 소리를. 그들은 주 우리 하느님께서 당신 성전을 위하여 복수하셨다고 시온에서 선포한다.

▶ Listen! the fugitives, the escaped from the land of Babylon: They announce in Zion the vengeance of the LORD, our God.

|
바빌론을 거슬러 시위를 당기는 활잡이들을 모두 불러 모아라. 그곳에 진을 치고 아무도 빠져나가지 못하게 하여라. 그의 소행대로 그에게 보복하고 그가 저지른 모든 짓에 따라 그에게 갚아 주어라. 그가 주님 앞에서, 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분 앞에서 방자하게 굴었기 때문이다.

▶ Call up against Babylon archers, all who bend the bow; Encamp around her, let no one escape. Repay her for her deeds; as she has done, do to her, For she insulted the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.

그러므로 그날 바빌론의 젊은이들이 광장에서 쓰러지고, 모든 군인이 전멸할 것이다. 주님의 말씀이다.

▶ Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, all her warriors shall perish on that day, says the LORD.

|
방자한 너! 이제 내가 너를 치겠다. 주 만군의 주님 말씀이다. 정녕 너의 날이 다가왔다. 내가 너를 징벌할 때가 다가왔다.

|
▶ I am against you, man of insolence, says the Lord GOD of hosts; For your day has come, the time for me to punish you.

방자한 자가 비틀거리다 쓰러져도 아무도 일으켜 줄 자가 없다. 내가 그의 성읍들에 불을 질러 그 주변까지 모조리 태우리라.

▶ Insolence stumbles and falls; there is no one to raise him up. I will kindle in his cities a fire that shall devour everything around him.

주님께서 이스라엘을 구원하신다

만군의 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. “이스라엘 자손들과 유다 자손들이 다 같이 억압을 받았다. 그들을 사로잡아 간 자들은 모두 그들을 붙잡아 놓고 돌려보내기를 마다하였다.”

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: Oppressed are the men of Israel, and with them the men of Judah; All their captors hold them fast and refuse to let them go.

그들의 구원자는 강하신 분, 그 이름 만군의 주님이시다. 주님께서 반드시 그들의 송사를 들어주시어 이 땅은 평안하게 하시고 바빌론 주민들은 불안하게 하시리라.

칼이 칼데아인들에게, 바빌론 주민들에게 떨어진다. 주님의 말씀이다. 그 대신들과 현자들에게 떨어진다.

칼이 수다쟁이들에게 떨어져 그들을 어리석은 자로 만들고 칼이 용사들에게 떨어져 그들을 무서워 떨게 한다.

▶ A sword upon the soothsayers, that they may become fools! A sword upon her warriors, that they may tremble;

칼이 바빌론의 말과 병거들에게, 그곳에 함께 사는 모든 혼합 종족에게 떨어지니 그들이 여자처럼 된다. 칼이 그곳 보물 창고에 떨어지니 보물이 약탈을 당한다.

▶ A sword upon her motley throng, that they may become women! A sword upon her treasures, that they may be plundered;

칼이 그곳 물 위에 떨어지고 물이 말라 버린다. 바빌론은 신상들의 나라고 그곳 사람들은 우상에 미쳐 있다.

▶ A sword upon her waters, that they may dry up! For it is a land of idols, and they shall be made frantic by fearful things.

|
그러므로 그곳에는 사막 짐승들이 늑대들과 더불어 살고 타조들도 살게 되리라. 그러나 사람은 영영 다시는 그곳에 살지 않을 것이요 세세 대대로 거주하는 사람이 없으리라.

▶ Hence, wildcats and desert beasts shall dwell there, and ostriches shall occupy it; Never again shall it be peopled, or lived in, from age to age.

하느님께서 소돔과 고모라를 근처 성읍들과 함께 멸망시키실 때처럼 아무도 그곳에 살지 않고 그곳에 머무는 사람이 없으리라. 주님의 말씀이다.

이제 한 백성이 북녘에서 온다. 큰 민족이 온다. 수많은 임금이 땅 끝에서 일어난다.

▶ See! a people comes from the north, a great nation, and mighty kings roused from the ends of the earth.

|
그들은 활과 창을 움켜쥐고 있는데 잔인하고 무자비하다. 그들은 바다처럼 고함을 지르며 말을 타고 달려온다. 딸 바빌론아, 그들이 너를 치려고 전사처럼 전열을 갖추고 있다.

▶ Bow and javelin they wield, cruel and pitiless are they; They sound like the roaring sea, as they ride forth on steeds, Each in his place for battle against you, daughter Babylon.

바빌론 임금이 그 소식을 듣고 손을 떨구었다. 해산하는 여인의 진통과 같은 괴로움이 그를 사로잡았다.

▶ The king of Babylon hears news of them, and helpless fall his hands; Anguish seizes him, throes like a mother's in childbirth.

|
사자가 요르단의 깊은 숲 속에서 뛰쳐나와 늘 푸른 목장으로 달려들 듯 나도 순식간에 그곳에서 그들을 몰아내고 누구든 내가 뽑은 자를 그곳에 세우리라. 과연 나와 같은 자가 누구며 누가 나를 불러낼 수 있는가? 어떤 목자가 내 앞에 나설 수 있는가?

▶ As when a lion comes up from the Jordan's thicket to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in one instant, will drive them off, and whom I choose I will establish there; For who is like me? who calls me to account? what shepherd can stand against me?

그러므로 주님께서 바빌론을 치려고 세우신 결의와 칼데아 땅을 치려고 짜 놓으신 계획을 들어 보아라. 양 떼의 어린것들이 그들을 반드시 끌어내고 이들 때문에 그들의 목장이 깜짝 놀라리라.

▶ Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; Hear the plans he has made against the land of the Chaldeans: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep; their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.

바빌론이 함락되는 소리에 땅이 흔들리고 그 울부짖는 소리가 민족들 가운데에서 들리리라.
