“이스라엘 집안아, 이 말을 들어라, 내가 너희를 두고 부르는 이 애가를.

▶ Hear this word which I utter over you, a lament, O house of Israel:

|
처녀 이스라엘이 쓰러져 다시는 일어나지 못하는구나. 제 땅에 내던져졌어도 일으켜 줄 사람 하나 없구나.

▶ She is fallen, to rise no more, the virgin Israel; She lies abandoned upon her land, with no one to raise her up.

─ 정녕 주 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. ─ 이스라엘 집안에서 천 명이 출정하던 성읍은 백 명만 남고 백 명이 출정하던 성읍은 열 명만 남으리라.”

▶ For thus says the Lord GOD: The city that marched out with a thousand shall be left without a hundred, Another that marched out with a hundred shall be left with ten, of the house of Israel.

정녕 주 하느님께서 이스라엘 집안에 이렇게 말씀하신다. “너희는 나를 찾아라. 그러면 살리라.

▶ For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel: Seek me, that you may live,
|

|
너희는 베텔을 찾지 말고 길갈로 가지 마라. 브에르 세바로 건너가지도 마라. 길갈은 반드시 포로로 잡혀가고 베텔은 폐허가 되리라.

▶ but do not seek Bethel; Do not come to Gilgal, and do not cross to Beer-sheba. For Gilgal shall be led into exile, and Bethel shall become nought.

너희는 주님을 찾아라. 그러면 살리라. 그러지 않으면 그가 불처럼 들이쳐 요셉 집안을 삼켜 버리리니 베텔에는 그 불을 끌 자 없으리라.

▶ Seek the LORD, that you may live, lest he come upon the house of Joseph like a fire That shall consume, with none to quench it for the house of Israel:

아 너희, 공정을 쓴흰쑥으로 만들어 버리고 정의를 땅바닥에 내팽개치는 자들아!”

묘성과 오리온자리를 만드신 분 암흑을 아침으로 바꾸시고 낮을 밤처럼 어둡게 하시는 분 바닷물을 불러올리시어 땅 위에 쏟으시는 분 그 이름 주님이시다.

▶ He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns darkness into dawn, and darkens day into night; Who summons the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the surface of the earth;

그분께서는 강한 자 위로 파멸이 번뜩이게 하시고 그 파멸이 요새를 덮치게 하신다.

▶ Who flashes destruction upon the strong, and brings ruin upon the fortress; whose name is LORD.

그들은 성문에서 올바로 시비를 가리는 이를 미워하고 바른말 하는 이를 역겨워한다.

▶ They hate him who reproves at the gate and abhor him who speaks the truth.

|
너희가 힘없는 이를 짓밟고 도조를 거두어 가니 너희가 다듬은 돌로 집을 지어도 그 안에서 살지 못하고 포도밭을 탐스럽게 가꾸어도 거기에서 난 포도주를 마시지 못하리라.

▶ Therefore, because you have trampled upon the weak and exacted of them levies of grain, Though you have built houses of hewn stone, you shall not live in them! Though you have planted choice vineyards, you shall not drink their wine!

정녕 나는 너희의 죄가 얼마나 많고 너희의 죄악이 얼마나 큰지 알고 있다. 너희는 의인을 괴롭히고 뇌물을 받으며 빈곤한 이들을 성문에서 밀쳐 내었다.

▶ Yes, I know how many are your crimes, how grievous your sins: Oppressing the just, accepting bribes, repelling the needy at the gate!

그러므로 신중한 이는 이러한 때에 입을 다문다. 때가 악하기 때문이다.

▶ Therefore the prudent man is silent at this time, for it is an evil time.
|

|
너희는 악이 아니라 선을 찾아라. 그래야 살리라. 그래야 너희 말대로 주 만군의 하느님이 너희와 함께 있으리라.

▶ Seek good and not evil, that you may live; Then truly will the LORD, the God of hosts, be with you as you claim!

|
너희는 악을 미워하고 선을 사랑하며 성문에서 공정을 세워라. 어쩌면 주 만군의 하느님이 요셉의 남은 자들에게 자비를 베풀지도 모른다.

|
▶ Hate evil and love good, and let justice prevail at the gate; Then it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will have pity on the remnant of Joseph.
|

|
그러므로 주님께서, 주 만군의 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. “광장마다 곡소리가 터져 나오고 거리마다 ‘아이고, 아이고!’ 하리라. 사람들은 농부들을 불러 통곡하게 하고 곡꾼들을 불러 곡하게 하리라.

▶ Therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: In every square there shall be lamentation, and in every street they shall cry, Alas! Alas! They shall summon the farmers to wail and professional mourners to lament,

포도밭마다 곡소리가 터져 나오리니 내가 너희 가운데를 지나갈 것이기 때문이다.” 주님께서 말씀하신다.

불행하여라, 주님의 날을 갈망하는 자들! 주님의 날이 너희에게 무슨 득이 되느냐? 그날은 어둠일 뿐 결코 빛이 아니다.

▶ Woe to those who yearn for the day of the LORD! What will this day of the LORD mean for you? Darkness and not light!

|
사자를 피해 도망치다가 곰을 만나고 집 안으로 피해 들어가 손으로 벽을 짚었다가 뱀에게 물리는 것과 같으리라.

▶ As if a man went to flee from a lion, and a bear should meet him; Or as if on entering his house he were to rest his hand against the wall, and a snake should bite him.

주님의 날은 어둠일 뿐 빛이 아니지 않으냐? 불빛이라고는 전혀 없이 캄캄할 뿐이다.

“나는 너희의 축제들을 싫어한다. 배척한다. 너희의 그 거룩한 집회를 반길 수 없다.

▶ I hate, I spurn your feasts, I take no pleasure in your solemnities;

너희가 나에게 번제물과 곡식 제물을 바친다 하여도 받지 않고 살진 짐승들을 바치는 너희의 그 친교 제물도 거들떠보지 않으리라.

▶ Your cereal offerings I will not accept, nor consider your stall-fed peace offerings.

너희의 시끄러운 노래를 내 앞에서 집어치워라. 너희의 수금 소리도 나는 듣지 못하겠다.

▶ Away with your noisy songs! I will not listen to the melodies of your harps. But if you would offer me holocausts,

다만 공정을 물처럼 흐르게 하고 정의를 강물처럼 흐르게 하여라.

▶ then let justice surge like water, and goodness like an unfailing stream.

|
이스라엘 집안아, 너희가 광야에서 지낸 사십 년 동안 나에게 희생 제물과 곡식 제물을 바친 적이 있느냐?

|
▶ Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings for forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?

너희는 스스로 만든 너희 임금 사쿳 상과 너희 별 신 케완 상을 짊어지고 가리라.

|
|
|
▶ You will carry away Sakkuth, your king, and Kaiwan, your star god, the images that you have made for yourselves;

|
그러므로 내가 너희를 다마스쿠스 너머로 유배를 보내리라.” 주님께서 말씀하신다. 그 이름 만군의 하느님이시다.
