주님께서 모세에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “너는 너의 형 아론에게 일러, 휘장 안쪽의 성소, 곧 궤 위에 있는 속죄판 앞으로 아무 때나 들어왔다가 죽는 일이 없게 하여라. 내가 구름 속에서 속죄판 위로 나타나기 때문이다.

▶ and said to him, "Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he pleases into the sanctuary, inside the veil, in front of the propitiatory on the ark; otherwise, when I reveal myself in a cloud above the propitiatory, he will die.

아론이 성소에 들어오려면 이렇게 해야 한다. 그는 속죄 제물로 바칠 황소 한 마리와 번제물로 바칠 숫양 한 마리를 가져온다.

▶ Only in this way may Aaron enter the sanctuary. He shall bring a young bullock for a sin offering and a ram for a holocaust.

그는 거룩한 아마포 저고리를 입고 그 안에는 맨몸 위에 아마포 속바지를 입는다. 그리고 아마포 띠를 매고 아마포 쓰개를 두른다. 이것들은 거룩한 옷이다. 그는 물로 몸을 씻고 나서 이것들을 입는다.

▶ He shall wear the sacred linen tunic, with the linen drawers next his flesh, gird himself with the linen sash and put on the linen miter. But since these vestments are sacred, he shall not put them on until he has first bathed his body in water.

그리고 이스라엘 자손들의 공동체에게서, 속죄 제물로 바칠 숫염소 두 마리와 번제물로 바칠 숫양 한 마리를 받는다.

▶ From the Israelite community he shall receive two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a holocaust.

▶ "Aaron shall bring in the bullock, his sin offering to atone for himself and for his household.
|

▶ Taking the two male goats and setting them before the LORD at the entrance of the meeting tent,

|
아론은 그 숫염소 두 마리를 놓고 제비를 뽑는데, 제비 하나는 주님을 위한 것이고 다른 제비는 아자젤을 위한 것이다.

▶ he shall cast lots to determine which one is for the LORD and which for Azazel.
|

아론은 주님을 위한 제비가 뽑힌 숫염소를 속죄 제물로 바친다.

|
|
|
|
▶ The goat that is determined by lot for the LORD, Aaron shall bring in and offer up as a sin offering.
|
|

|
아자젤을 위한 제비가 뽑힌 숫염소는 산 채로 주님 앞에 세워 두었다가, 그 위에서 속죄 예식을 거행하고 광야로 아자젤에게 보낸다.

|
|
▶ But the goat determined by lot for Azazel he shall set alive before the LORD, so that with it he may make atonement by sending it off to Azazel in the desert.

|
아론은 다음과 같이 자신을 위한 속죄 제물로 황소를 바쳐, 자신과 자기 집안을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행한다. 그는 먼저 자신을 위한 속죄 제물이 될 황소를 잡는다.

▶ "Thus shall Aaron offer up the bullock, his sin offering, to atone for himself and for his family. When he has slaughtered it,

▶ he shall take a censer full of glowing embers from the altar before the LORD, as well as a double handful of finely ground fragrant incense, and bringing them inside the veil,

|
그 향을 주님 앞에서 숯불에 놓아, 향 연기가 증언 궤 위에 있는 속죄판을 덮게 한다. 그래야 그가 죽지 않는다.

|
|
|
|
▶ there before the LORD he shall put incense on the fire, so that a cloud of incense may cover the propitiatory over the commandments; else he will die.
|

|
그러고 나서 황소의 피를 얼마쯤 가져다가, 손가락에 찍어 속죄판 동쪽 위로 뿌리고, 또 그 피를 손가락에 찍어 속죄판 앞에 일곱 번 뿌린다.

|
▶ Taking some of the bullock's blood, he shall sprinkle it with his finger on the fore part of the propitiatory and likewise sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times in front of the propitiatory.

|
이어서 백성을 위한 속죄 제물이 될 숫염소를 잡아, 그 피를 휘장 안으로 가져와서, 황소 피를 뿌릴 때와 마찬가지로 속죄판 위와 속죄판 앞에 뿌린다.

▶ "Then he shall slaughter the people's sin-offering goat, and bringing its blood inside the veil, he shall do with it as he did with the bullock's blood, sprinkling it on the propitiatory and before it.
|

|
이렇게 그는 성소를 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행하는데, 그것은 이스라엘 자손들의 부정과 허물, 그리고 그들의 모든 잘못 때문이다. 그는 또 부정한 그들 가운데에 있는 만남의 천막을 위해서도 같은 예식을 거행한다.

▶ Thus he shall make atonement for the sanctuary because of all the sinful defilements and faults of the Israelites. He shall do the same for the meeting tent, which is set up among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

|
그가 성소에서 속죄 예식을 거행하기 위하여 들어왔다 나갈 때까지, 아무도 만남의 천막 안에 있어서는 안 된다. 이렇게 그는 자신과 자기 집안과 이스라엘 온 회중을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행한다.

▶ No one else may be in the meeting tent from the time he enters the sanctuary to make atonement until he departs. When he has made atonement for himself and his household, as well as for the whole Israelite community,

그러고 나서 주님 앞에 있는 제단으로 나와, 그것을 위한 속죄 예식을 거행하는데, 먼저 황소의 피와 숫염소의 피를 얼마쯤 가져다가, 제단을 돌며 그 뿔들에 바른다.

▶ he shall come out to the altar before the LORD and make atonement for it also. Taking some of the bullock's and the goat's blood, he shall put it on the horns around the altar,

|
그리고 그 피를 손가락에 찍어 제단 위에 일곱 번 뿌린다. 이렇게 그는 이스라엘 자손들의 부정을 벗겨 제단을 정결하고 거룩하게 한다.

|
▶ and with his finger sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times. Thus he shall render it clean and holy, purged of the defilements of the Israelites.

|
그는 성소와 만남의 천막과 제단을 위한 속죄 예식을 마친 다음, 살려 둔 숫염소를 끌고 온다.

▶ "When he has completed the atonement rite for the sanctuary, the meeting tent and the altar, Aaron shall bring forward the live goat.

|
아론은 살려 둔 그 숫염소 머리에 두 손을 얹고, 이스라엘 자손들의 모든 죄, 곧 그들의 허물과 잘못을 고백하여 그것들을 그 염소 머리에 씌우고서는, 기다리고 있는 사람의 손에 맡겨 광야로 내보낸다.

▶ Laying both hands on its head, he shall confess over it all the sinful faults and transgressions of the Israelites, and so put them on the goat's head. He shall then have it led into the desert by an attendant.

|
그러면 그 염소는 그들의 모든 죄를 불모지로 날라 간다. 이렇게 그 숫염소를 광야로 내보낸다.

|
▶ Since the goat is to carry off their iniquities to an isolated region, it must be sent away into the desert.
|

|
그러고 나서 아론은 만남의 천막으로 들어와, 성소에 들어올 때 입은 아마포 옷들을 벗어 거기에 놓아둔다.

|
▶ "After Aaron has again gone into the meeting tent, he shall strip off and leave in the sanctuary the linen vestments he had put on when he entered there.

|
그는 거룩한 곳에서 물로 몸을 씻은 다음, 본래의 옷을 입고 밖으로 나가, 자기의 번제물과 백성의 번제물을 바쳐, 자신과 백성을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행한다.

▶ After bathing his body with water in a sacred place, he shall put on his vestments, and then come out and offer his own and the people's holocaust, in atonement for himself and for the people,

▶ and also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.

|
숫염소를 아자젤에게 놓아 보낸 이는 옷을 빨고 물로 몸을 씻는다. 그런 다음 진영 안으로 들어온다.

|
|
|
▶ "The man who has led away the goat for Azazel shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water; only then may he enter the camp.

|
성소에서 속죄 예식을 거행하려고 피를 받았던 황소와 숫염소, 곧 속죄 제물로 바친 황소와 속죄 제물로 바친 숫염소의 나머지는 진영 밖으로 내다가, 그 가죽과 고기와 똥을 불에 태운다.

▶ The sin-offering bullock and goat whose blood was brought into the sanctuary to make atonement, shall be taken outside the camp, where their hides and flesh and offal shall be burned up in the fire.

|
이것들을 태운 이도 옷을 빨고 물로 몸을 씻는다. 그런 다음 진영 안으로 들어온다.

|
|
|
▶ The one who burns them shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water; only then may he enter the camp.
|
|

|
이것은 너희에게 영원한 규칙이 되어야 한다. 일곱째 달 초열흘날에 너희는 고행을 하고, 일은 아무것도 해서는 안 된다. 본토인이든 너희 가운데에 머무르는 이방인이든 마찬가지다.

▶ "This shall be an everlasting ordinance for you: on the tenth day of the seventh month every one of you, whether a native or a resident alien, shall mortify himself and shall do no work.
|

|
바로 이날이 너희를 위한 속죄 예식을 거행하여 너희를 정결하게 하는 날이기 때문이다. 이로써 너희는 주님 앞에서 너희의 모든 잘못을 벗고 정결하게 된다.

|
▶ Since on this day atonement is made for you to make you clean, so that you may be cleansed of all your sins before the LORD,
|
|

|
이날은 너희에게 안식일, 곧 안식의 날이다. 너희는 고행을 해야 한다. 이는 영원한 규칙이다.

▶ by everlasting ordinance it shall be a most solemn sabbath for you, on which you must mortify yourselves.

▶ "This atonement is to be made by the priest who has been anointed and ordained to the priesthood in succession to his father. He shall wear the linen garments, the sacred vestments,

지성소를 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행한다. 그리고 만남의 천막과 제단을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행하고, 사제들과 회중의 온 백성을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행한다.

|
▶ and make atonement for the sacred sanctuary, the meeting tent and the altar, as well as for the priests and all the people of the community.

|
이렇게 한 해에 한 번씩 이스라엘 자손들의 모든 잘못 때문에 그들을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행하는 것을 너희의 영원한 규칙으로 삼아라.” 모세는 주님께서 명령하신 대로 하였다.

▶ This, then, shall be an everlasting ordinance for you: once a year atonement shall be made for all the sins of the Israelites." Thus was it done, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
