주님, 제가 당신과 소송을 벌일 때마다 당신께서는 정의로우십니다. 그럴지라도 당신께 공정성에 대해 여쭙겠습니다. 어찌하여 악인들의 길은 번성하고 배신자들은 모두 성공하여 편히 살기만 합니까?

하이에나가 나의 소유를 탐욕스레 바라보느냐? 맹금이 내 소유를 치려고 둘러싸고 있느냐? 가서 모든 들짐승을 불러 모으고 그것들을 데려와 내 소유를 삼켜 버리게 하여라.

수많은 목자들이 내 포도밭을 파괴하고 내 몫을 짓밟았다. 그들은 내 탐스러운 몫을 폐허의 광야로 만들었다.

그들이 내 몫을 폐허로 만들자 폐허가 된 그곳이 나를 향해 통곡한다. 온 땅이 폐허가 되었는데도 그 일을 마음에 두는 사람이 아무도 없다.

광야의 벌거벗은 모든 언덕을 넘어 파괴자들이 쳐들어왔다. 주님의 칼이 땅 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 휩쓸고 지나가니 살아 있는 모든 목숨이 안전할 리 없다.

사람들은 밀씨를 뿌리고도 가시를 거두어들이며 지칠 때까지 일을 해도 아무런 소득이 없다. 너희의 수확을 두고 주님의 타오르는 분노에 부끄러워하여라.

주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 이는 사악한 모든 이웃 민족들에 관한 말씀이다. “그들은 내가 내 백성 이스라엘에게 물려준 상속 재산을 건드렸다. 그러므로 이제 내가 그들의 땅에서 그들을 뽑아낸 뒤, 그들 가운데에 살던 유다 집안을 뽑아내 오겠다.

▶ Thus says the LORD against all my evil neighbors who plunder the heritage which I gave my people Israel as their own: See, I will pluck them up from their land; the house of Judah I will pluck up in their midst.

그러나 그들을 뽑아냈다가 다시 그들을 가엾이 여겨, 그들을 모두 제 상속 재산, 곧 제 땅으로 돌려보내겠다.

그들이 내 백성의 길을 충실하게 배워 나가고, 전에는 그들이 내 백성에게 바알의 이름으로 맹세하도록 가르쳤지만 이제는 내 이름을 부르며 살아 계신 주님을 두고 맹세하면, 내 백성 가운데에 자리 잡게 될 것이다.
