만군의 주님의 집에 있는 사제들과 예언자들에게 물어 왔다. “내가 지금까지 여러 해 동안 해 온 대로, 다섯째 달에 애도하며 단식해야 합니까?”

▶ and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and the prophets, "Must I mourn and abstain in the fifth month as I have been doing these many years?"

그때에 만군의 주님의 말씀이 나에게 내렸다.

▶ Thereupon this word of the LORD of hosts came to me:

“너는 이 땅의 온 백성과 사제들에게 이렇게 말하여라. ‘너희가 지난 일흔 해 동안 다섯째 달과 일곱째 달에 단식하며 슬퍼할 때 참으로 나를 위하여 단식하였단 말이냐?

▶ Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month these seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?
|

너희가 먹고 마실 때에도 자신을 위하여 먹고 마신 것이 아니냐?’

|
|
|
|
|
▶ And when you were eating and drinking, was it not for yourselves that you ate, and for yourselves that you drank?
|
|

|
이는 예루살렘과 그 주변 성읍들에서 사람들이 편안히 살고 있을 때, 그리고 네겝과 평원 지대에도 사람들이 살고 있을 때, 주님이 이전의 예언자들을 통하여 선언한 말씀이 아니냐?”

▶ Were not these the words which the LORD spoke through the former prophets, when Jerusalem and the surrounding cities were inhabited and at peace, when the Negeb and the foothills were inhabited?

주님의 말씀이 즈카르야에게 내렸다.

▶ (This word of the LORD came to Zechariah:

“만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. ‘너희는 진실한 재판을 하여라. 서로 자애와 동정을 베풀어라.

|
▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts:) Render true judgment, and show kindness and compassion toward each other.
|

|
과부와 고아 이방인과 가난한 이를 억누르지 마라. 서로 남을 해치려고 마음속으로 궁리하지 마라.’”

|
▶ Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor; do not plot evil against one another in your hearts.
|

그러나 그들은 들으려 하지 않고 등을 돌렸으며, 듣지 않으려고 귀를 막았다.

|
|
|
|
|
▶ But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.
|
|

|
그들은 만군의 주님께서 당신의 영으로 이전의 예언자들을 통하여 자기들에게 보내신 율법과 말씀을 듣지 않으려고, 마음을 금강석처럼 굳게 만들었다. 그리하여 만군의 주님에게서 커다란 분노가 내렸다.

▶ And they made their hearts diamondhard so as not to hear the teaching and the message that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets.

만군의 주님께서 말씀하셨다. “내가 부를 때에 그들이 듣지 않은 것처럼, 그들이 부를 때에 나도 듣지 않겠다.

▶ Then the LORD of hosts in his great anger said that, as they had not listened when he called, so he would not listen when they called,

|
나는 그들도 모르는 그 모든 민족들 가운데로 그들을 날려 버렸다. 그들이 떠난 이 땅은 오가는 사람 하나도 없이 황폐하게 되었다. 그들이 이 탐스러운 땅을 폐허로 만들어 버린 것이다.”

▶ but would scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they did not know. Thus the land was left desolate after them with no one traveling to and fro; they made the pleasant land into a desert.
