“만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 나는 시온에 커다란 열정을, 격렬한 열정을 지니고 있다.

▶ I am intensely jealous for Zion, stirred to jealous wrath for her.

|
주님이 이렇게 말한다. 내가 시온으로 돌아가 예루살렘 한가운데에 살리라. 예루살렘은 ‘진실한 도성’이라고, 만군의 주님의 산은 ‘거룩한 산’이라고 불리리라.

▶ Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and I will dwell within Jerusalem; Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain.

만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 나이가 많아 저마다 손에 지팡이를 든 남녀 노인들이 다시 예루살렘 광장마다 앉아 쉬리라.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women, each with staff in hand because of old age, shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem.

도성의 광장마다 뛰노는 소년 소녀들로 가득 차리라.

▶ The city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets.

만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 그때에 이것이 이 백성의 남은 자들 눈에 신기하게 보인다 할지라도 내 눈에까지 신기하게 보이겠느냐? 만군의 주님의 말이다.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: Even if this should seem impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people, shall it in those days be impossible in my eyes also, says the LORD of hosts?

만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 이제 내가 내 백성을 해 뜨는 땅과 해 지는 땅에서 구해 내리라.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: Lo, I will rescue my people from the land of the rising sun, and from the land of the setting sun.

나는 그들을 데리고 와서 예루살렘 한가운데에 살게 하리라. 그러면 진실과 정의 안에서 그들은 나의 백성이 되고 나는 그들의 하느님이 되리라.

▶ I will bring them back to dwell within Jerusalem. They shall be my people, and I will be their God, with faithfulness and justice.

만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 너희는 힘을 내어라. 만군의 주님의 집, 성전을 지으려고 기초를 놓던 날에 예언자들이 전한 그 말들을 너희가 오늘 듣고 있다.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: Let your hands be strong, you who in these days hear these words spoken by the prophets on the day when the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid for the building of the temple.

전에는 사람이 품삯을 받지 못하고 짐승의 품삯도 받지 못하였으며 원수 때문에 안전하게 드나들 수도 없었다. 내가 모든 사람을 서로 맞서게 하였던 것이다.

▶ For before those days there were no wages for men, or hire for beasts; those who came and went had no security from the enemy, for I set every man against his neighbor.

그러나 이제 내가 이 백성의 남은 자들에게는 전과 같이 대하지 않으리라. 만군의 주님의 말이다.

▶ But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in former days, says the LORD of hosts,

정녕 평화의 씨앗이 뿌려지리라. 포도나무는 열매를 내주고 땅은 소출을 내주며 하늘은 이슬을 내주리라. 나는 이 백성의 남은 자들이 이 모든 것을 차지하게 하리라.

▶ for it is the seedtime of peace: the vine shall yield its fruit, the land shall bear its crops, and the heavens shall give their dew; all these things I will have the remnant of the people possess.

유다 집안과 이스라엘 집안아! 너희가 전에는 민족들 가운데에서 저주의 대상이 되었지만 내가 너희를 구원하면 너희는 복이 되리라. 두려워하지 말고 힘을 내어라!

▶ Just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you that you may be a blessing; do not fear, but let your hands be strong.

|
만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 너희 조상들이 나의 분노를 돋우었을 때, 나는 너희에게 재앙을 내리기로 작정하고 가엾이 여기지 않았다. 만군의 주님이 말한다.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: As I determined to harm you when your fathers provoked me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I did not relent,

그러나 이제는 다시 내가 예루살렘과 유다 집안에 잘해 주기로 작정하였으니, 너희는 두려워하지 마라.

▶ so again in these days I have determined to favor Jerusalem and the house of Judah; do not fear!

너희가 해야 할 일은 바로 이것이다. 너희는 서로 진실을 말하고, 성문에서는 평화를 이루는 진실한 재판을 하여라.

▶ These then are the things you should do: Speak the truth to one another; let there be honesty and peace in the judgments at your gates,

남을 해치려고 마음속으로 궁리하지 마라. 거짓 맹세를 좋아하지 마라. 이 모든 것은 내가 미워하는 것이다. 주님의 말이다.”

▶ and let none of you plot evil against another in his heart, nor love a false oath. For all these things I hate, says the LORD.

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: The fast days of the fourth, the fifth, the seventh, and the tenth months shall become occasions of joy and gladness, cheerful festivals for the house of Judah; only love faithfulness and peace.

한 성읍의 주민들이 다른 성읍으로 가서 ‘자, 가서 주님께 은총을 간청하고 만군의 주님을 찾자. 나도 가겠다.’ 하고 말하리라.

▶ and the inhabitants of one city shall approach those of another, and say, "Come! let us go to implore the favor of the LORD"; and, "I too will go to seek the LORD."

많은 민족들과 강한 나라들이 예루살렘에서 만군의 주님을 찾고 주님께 은총을 간청하러 오리라.

▶ Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to implore the favor of the LORD.

만군의 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 그때에 저마다 말이 다른 민족 열 사람이 유다 사람 하나의 옷자락을 붙잡고, ‘우리도 여러분과 함께 가게 해 주십시오. 우리는 하느님께서 여러분과 함께 계시다는 말을 들었습니다.’ 하고 말할 것이다.”

▶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."
