▶ "Love the LORD, your God, therefore, and always heed his charge: his statutes, decrees and commandments.

주 너희 하느님의 징계를 알지도 못하고 보지도 못한 너희 자녀들이 아니라 바로 너희가, 오늘 그분의 위대함과 그분의 강한 손과 뻗은 팔을 기억해야 한다.

▶ It is not your children, who have not known it from experience, but you yourselves who must now understand the discipline of the LORD, your God; his majesty, his strong hand and outstretched arm;

또한 그분께서 이집트 한가운데에서 이집트 임금 파라오와 그의 온 나라에 일으키신 표징과 업적을,

▶ the signs and deeds he wrought among the Egyptians, on Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and on all his land;

그리고 이집트의 군대와 말들과 병거들이 너희를 뒤쫓아 올 때, 갈대 바다의 물이 그들을 덮치게 하시어, 오늘날까지 그들을 멸망시키신 일과,

▶ what he did to the Egyptian army and to their horses and chariots, engulfing them in the water of the Red Sea as they pursued you, and bringing ruin upon them even to this day;

너희가 이곳에 이르기까지 광야에서 너희에게 하신 일을,

|
▶ what he did for you in the desert until you arrived in this place;

|

|
그리고 르우벤의 손자이며 엘리압의 아들인 다탄과 아비람에게 하신 일, 곧 땅이 입을 벌려, 온 이스라엘 가운데에서 그들과 그들의 집안과 천막과 그들을 따르던 모든 사람을 삼켜 버리게 하신 일을 기억해야 한다.

“그러므로 너희는 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 모든 계명을 지켜야 한다. 그러면 너희가 강해져서, 너희가 건너가 차지하려는 땅에 들어가 그 땅을 차지할 것이다.

▶ Keep all the commandments, then, which I enjoin on you today, that you may be strong enough to enter in and take possession of the land into which you are crossing,

또한 너희는 주님께서 너희 조상들과 그 후손들에게 주시겠다고 맹세하신 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에서 오래 살 것이다.

▶ and that you may have long life on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers he would give to them and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.

|
너희가 차지하러 들어가는 땅은 너희가 나온 이집트 땅과 같지 않다. 이집트에서는 너희가 씨를 뿌린 다음에, 채소밭처럼 발로 물을 대야만 했다.

▶ "For the land which you are to enter and occupy is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you would sow your seed and then water it by hand, as in a vegetable garden.

그러나 너희가 차지하러 건너가는 땅은 언덕과 골짜기가 많은 땅으로, 하늘에서 내리는 비가 촉촉이 적셔 주는 곳이다.

|
|
▶ No, the land into which you are crossing for conquest is a land of hills and valleys that drinks in rain from the heavens,

주 너희 하느님께서 돌보아 주시며, 주 너희 하느님의 눈이 한 해가 시작할 때부터 한 해가 끝날 때까지 늘 살펴 주시는 땅이다.

|
|
|
▶ a land which the LORD, your God, looks after; his eyes are upon it continually from the beginning of the year to the end.

|
내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 계명을 잘 들어, 주 너희 하느님을 사랑하고 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하여 그분을 섬기면,

|
|
|
|
▶ If, then, you truly heed my commandments which I enjoin on you today, loving and serving the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul,

|
주님께서 너희 땅에 제때에 비를, 이른 비와 늦은 비를 내려 주시어, 너희가 곡식과 포도주와 기름을 거두게 해 주실 것이다.

|
|
|
|
▶ I will give the seasonal rain to your land, the early rain and the late rain, that you may have your grain, wine and oil to gather in;

|
또 너희 들에서는 가축에게 풀을 주시어, 너희가 배불리 먹게 해 주실 것이다.

|
|
|
|
|
▶ and I will bring forth grass in your fields for your animals. Thus you may eat your fill.
|
|

|
너희는 마음에 유혹을 받아, 길을 벗어나서 다른 신들을 섬기거나 그들에게 경배하는 일이 없도록 조심하여라.

|
|
|
|
|
|
▶ But be careful lest your heart be so lured away that you serve other gods and worship them.
|

|
그러지 않으면 주님의 진노가 너희를 거슬러 타올라 하늘을 닫으실 것이다. 그러면 비가 내리지 않아 땅이 소출을 내지 않고, 너희는 주님께서 너희에게 주시는 좋은 땅에서 바로 멸망할 것이다.

|
▶ For then the wrath of the LORD will flare up against you and he will close up the heavens, so that no rain will fall, and the soil will not yield its crops, and you will soon perish from the good land he is giving you.

|
그러므로 너희는 나의 이 말을 너희 마음과 너희 정신에 새기고 너희 손에 표징으로 묶고 이마에 표지로 붙여라.

▶ "Therefore, take these words of mine into your heart and soul. Bind them at your wrist as a sign, and let them be a pendant on your forehead.

|
또 이 말씀을 너희 자녀에게 가르쳐 주어라. 너희가 집에 앉아 있을 때나 길을 갈 때나, 누워 있을 때나 일어나 있을 때나 이 말씀을 일러 주어라.

▶ Teach them to your children, speaking of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest.
|

|
그리고 그것을 너희 집의 문설주와 대문에도 써 놓아라.

|
▶ And write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates,
|
|

|
그러면 주님께서 너희 조상들에게 주겠다고 맹세하신 땅에서 너희와 너희 자손들이, 땅 위에 있는 하늘처럼 오래오래 살 것이다.

|
|
|
▶ so that, as long as the heavens are above the earth, you and your children may live on in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers he would give them.

|
내가 너희에게 실천하라고 명령하는 이 모든 계명을 너희가 꼭 지키고, 주 너희 하느님을 사랑하며 그분의 모든 길을 따라 걷고 그분께 매달리면,

|
|
|
▶ "For if you are careful to observe all these commandments I enjoin on you, loving the LORD, your God, and following his ways exactly, and holding fast to him,

|
주님께서는 저 모든 민족들을 너희 앞에서 쫓아내실 것이고, 너희는 너희보다 크고 강한 민족들을 차지할 것이다.

|
|
|
|
|
▶ the LORD will drive all these nations out of your way, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

|
너희 발바닥이 밟는 곳은 모두 너희 것이 될 것이다. 광야에서 레바논까지, 큰 강 유프라테스 강에서 서쪽 바다까지 너희의 영토가 될 것이다.

|
|
|
▶ Every place where you set foot shall be yours: from the desert and from Lebanon, from the Euphrates River to the Western Sea, shall be your territory.
|

|
아무도 너희에게 맞서지 못할 것이다. 주 너희 하느님께서는, 너희에게 말씀하신 대로, 너희가 밟는 땅 어디에서나 너희에 대한 무서움과 두려움을 퍼뜨리실 것이다.”

▶ None shall stand up against you; the LORD, your God, will spread the fear and dread of you through any land where you set foot, as he promised you.

내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 주 너희 하느님의 계명들을 너희가 듣고 따르면 복이 내릴 것이다. 그러나

|
|
|
▶ a blessing for obeying the commandments of the LORD, your God, which I enjoin on you today;

|
너희가 주 너희 하느님의 계명들을 듣지 않고, 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 길에서 벗어나, 너희가 알지도 못하는 다른 신들을 따라가면 저주가 내릴 것이다.

|
|
|
|
▶ a curse if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD, your God, but turn aside from the way I ordain for you today, to follow other gods, whom you have not known.

|
주 너희 하느님께서 너희가 차지하러 들어가려는 땅으로 너희를 데려가시면, 그리짐 산 위에서는 축복을, 에발 산 위에서는 저주를 선언해야 한다.

|
▶ When the LORD, your God, brings you into the land which you are to enter and occupy, then you shall pronounce the blessing on Mount Gerizim, the curse on Mount Ebal.

그 산들은 요르단 건너편에, 서쪽으로 좀 더 가서, 아라바에 사는 가나안인들의 땅에, 곧 길갈 맞은쪽, 모레의 참나무 곁에 있지 않느냐?

너희는 요르단을 건너, 주 너희 하느님께서 너희에게 주시는 땅으로 들어가 그곳을 차지하려고 한다. 너희가 그 땅을 차지하고 그곳에 자리 잡으면,

▶ For you are about to cross the Jordan to enter and occupy the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you. When, therefore, you take possession of it and settle there,

내가 오늘 너희 앞에 내놓는 모든 규정과 법규를 명심하여 실천해야 한다.”

▶ be careful to observe all the statutes and decrees that I set before you today.
