▶ There was a man in the mountain region of Ephraim whose name was Micah.
|

그가 자기 어머니에게 말하였다. “어머니가 은 천백 세켈을 잃어버리신 일이 있지요? 그때에 저주를 하셨는데, 제가 듣는 데에서도 그리하셨습니다. 그 은이 여기 있습니다. 제가 그것을 가져갔습니다.” 그러자 그 어머니가 “내 아들은 주님께 복을 받아라.” 하고 말하였다.

▶ He said to his mother, "The eleven hundred shekels of silver over which you pronounced a curse in my hearing when they were taken from you, are in my possession. It was I who took them; so now I will restore them to you."

이렇게 그가 은 천백 세켈을 돌려주니, 그의 어머니가 또 이런 말을 하였다. “사실은 내가 이 은을 내 아들을 위해서 주님께 봉헌하였다. 그것으로 조각 신상과 주조 신상을 만들려고 하였는데, 이제 그것을 너에게 도로 주마.”

▶ When he restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she took two hundred of them and gave them to the silversmith, who made of them a carved idol overlaid with silver.

그러나 미카는 그 은을 어머니에게 돌려주었다. 그러자 그 어머니는 은 이백 세켈을 떼어서 은장이에게 주어, 조각 신상과 주조 신상을 만들게 하였다. 그것은 미카의 집에 모셔졌다.

▶ Then his mother said, "May the LORD bless my son! I have consecrated the silver to the LORD as my gift in favor of my son, by making a carved idol overlaid with silver." It remained in the house of Micah.

미카라는 이 사람에게는 신당이 하나 있었다. 그는 에폿과 수호신들을 만들고, 한 아들에게 직무를 맡겨 자기의 사제로 삼았다.

▶ Thus the layman Micah had a sanctuary. He also made an ephod and household idols, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

그 시대에는 이스라엘에 임금이 없었다. 그래서 사람들은 저마다 제 눈에 옳게 보이는 대로 하였다.

▶ In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what he thought best.

▶ There was a young Levite who had resided within the tribe of Judah at Bethlehem of Judah.

그 사람은 다른 곳에서 나그네살이하려고, 유다 땅 베들레헴 성읍을 떠나 길을 가다가, 에프라임 산악 지방에 있는 미카의 집까지 이르게 되었다.

▶ From that city he set out to find another place of residence. On his journey he came to the house of Micah in the mountain region of Ephraim.

미카가 그에게 “어디서 오셨소?” 하고 물었다. “저는 유다 땅 베들레헴에서 온 레위인입니다. 아무 데서나 나그네살이하려고 길을 나섰습니다.” 하고 그가 대답하자,

▶ Micah said to him, "Where do you come from?" He answered him, "I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, and am on my way to find some other place of residence."

미카가 그에게 말하였다. “나와 함께 살면서 나에게 아버지와 사제가 되어 주시오. 일 년에 은 열 세켈과 옷가지와 양식을 드리겠소.”

▶ "Stay with me," Micah said to him. "Be father and priest to me, and I will give you ten silver shekels a year, a set of garments, and your food."

레위인은 그 사람과 함께 살기로 하였다. 그리고 그 젊은이는 미카의 아들 가운데 하나처럼 되었다.

▶ So the young Levite decided to stay with the man, to whom he became as one of his own sons.
|

|
미카가 레위인에게 직무를 맡기니, 그 젊은이는 미카의 사제가 되어 그의 집에 머물렀다.

|
|
|
▶ Micah consecrated the young Levite, who became his priest, remaining in his house.
|
|
13
|
그러자 미카는 ‘레위인이 내 사제가 되었으니, 주님께서 틀림없이 나에게 잘해 주실 것이다.’ 하고 생각하였다.

▶ Therefore Micah said, "Now I know that the LORD will prosper me, since the Levite has become my priest."
