|
그분께서는 모든 생물 안에 그들에 대한 두려움을 심어 놓으시고 그들을 들짐승과 날짐승의 주인이 되게 하셨다.

▶ He puts the fear of him in all flesh, and gives him rule over beasts and birds.

그들은 주님의 다섯 가지 능력을 사용할 수 있게 되었다. 덧붙여 그분께서는 여섯 번째로 그들에게 지성을 나누어 주시고 일곱 번째로 그분의 능력들을 해석할 수 있는 이성을 주셨다.

▶ He looks with favor upon their hearts, and shows them his glorious works,

그분께서는 그들의 마음에 당신에 대한 경외심을 심어 주시어 당신의 위대한 업적을 보게 하시고 그들이 당신의 놀라운 일들을 영원히 찬양하게 하셨다.

그들은 그분의 거룩하신 이름을 찬미하리라.

그분께서는 그들에게 지식을 주시고 생명의 율법을 그들에게 상속 재산으로 나누어 주시어 지금 살아 있는 존재들이 죽을 몸임을 깨우쳐 주셨다.

그분께서는 그들과 영원한 계약을 맺으시고 당신의 판결을 그들에게 보여 주셨다.

그들의 눈은 그분의 위대하신 영광을 보고 그들의 귀는 그분의 영광스러운 소리를 들었다.

▶ Their ways are ever known to him, they cannot be hidden from his eyes.

그분께서는 “온갖 불의를 조심하여라.” 하고 그들에게 말씀하시며 그들 각자에게 제 이웃에 대한 계명을 주셨다.

|
그들의 길은 언제나 그분 앞에 드러나고 그분의 눈앞에서 감추어지지 않으리라.

▶ All their actions are clear as the sun to him, his eyes are ever upon their ways.

그들의 길은 젊어서부터 악으로 기울어져 있으니 그들은 자기네 심장을 돌 대신 살로 바꿀 수 없었다.

▶ Their wickedness cannot be hidden from him; all of their sins are before the LORD.

|
온 땅의 민족들을 나누실 때 그분께서는 각 민족 위에 통치자를 세우셨으나 이스라엘만은 주님의 몫이 되었다.

▶ A man's goodness God cherishes like a signet ring, a man's virtue, like the apple of his eye.

그분께서는 당신의 첫아들인 이스라엘을 교훈으로 기르시고 사랑의 빛을 나누어 주시며 내버려 두지 않으신다.

▶ Later he will rise up and repay them, and requite each one of them as they deserve.

이스라엘이 한 모든 일은 그분 앞에서 백일하에 드러나고 그분의 눈은 언제나 그들의 길을 살피신다.

▶ But to the penitent he provides a way back, he encourages those who are losing hope!

그들의 불의는 결코 그분 앞에서 숨겨지지 않고 그들의 온갖 죄악은 주님 앞에서 드러난다.

▶ Return to the LORD and give up sin, pray to him and make your offenses few.

그러나 주님께서는 인자하시고 당신의 피조물을 아시어 그들을 외면하거나 버리지 않고 아껴 주셨다.

▶ Turn again to the Most High and away from sin, hate intensely what he loathes;

|
사람의 자선은 그분께는 인장과도 같아 그분께서는 인간의 선행을 눈동자처럼 보존해 주시고 인간의 자녀들을 회개하도록 하신다.

때가 지난 뒤 주님께서는 일어나시어 그들에게 되갚아 주시고 그들 머리 위에 벌을 내리시리라.

▶ No more can the dead give praise than those who have never lived; they glorify the LORD who are alive and well.

그러나 회개하는 이들에게는 돌아올 기회를 주시고 인내심을 잃어버린 자들은 위로하신다.

주님께 돌아오고 죄악을 버려라. 그분 앞에서 기도하고 잘못을 줄여라.

지극히 높으신 분께 돌아오고 불의에서 돌아서라. 그분께서 너를 이끄시어 어둠에서 구원의 빛으로 인도하실 것이다. 또 너는 그분께서 역겨워하시는 것을 혐오하여라.

인간에게 온갖 능력이 있는 것은 아니다. 인간의 아들은 불멸하는 존재가 아니기 때문이다.

무엇이 태양보다 밝으랴? 그러나 태양도 어두워진다. 살과 피로 된 인간도 악을 꾀한다.

|
그분께서는 저 높은 하늘의 군대를 통솔하시지만 모든 인간은 먼지와 재일 뿐이다.
