|
During this time Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers and, strewing incense on the fire they had put in them, they offered up before the LORD profane fire, such as he had not authorized.

▶ 아론의 두 아들 나답과 아비후는 저마다 제 향로를 가져다가, 거기에 불을 담고 향을 놓았다. 그들은 주님께서 그들에게 명령하신 것과는 다른 속된 불을 주님 앞에 피워 바친 것이다.

Fire therefore came forth from the LORD'S presence and consumed them, so that they died in his presence.
|

▶ 그러자 주님 앞에서 불이 나와 그들을 삼키니, 그들은 주님 앞에서 죽고 말았다.

|
Moses then said to Aaron, "This is as the LORD said: Through those who approach me I will manifest my sacredness; In the sight of all the people I will reveal my glory." But Aaron said nothing.

▶ 모세가 아론에게 말하였다. “주님께서 ‘나에게 가까이 있는 이들을 통하여 나의 거룩함을 드러내고, 나의 온 백성 앞에 나의 영광을 나타내겠다.’고 하신 말씀은 바로 이를 두고 하신 것입니다.” 아론은 아무 말도 하지 못하였다.

Then Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Aaron's uncle Uzziel, with the order, "Come, remove your kinsmen from the sanctuary and carry them to a place outside the camp."

▶ 모세는 아론의 삼촌 우찌엘의 두 아들 미사엘과 엘차판을 불러 말하였다. “이리 와서 너희 조카들을 성소에서 진영 밖으로 옮겨가거라.”

So they went in and took them, in their tunics, outside the camp, as Moses had commanded.

▶ 그들은 모세가 분부한 대로 앞으로 나와, 조카들의 저고리를 잡고 그들을 진영 밖으로 옮겨 갔다.

Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, "Do not bare your heads or tear your garments, lest you bring not only death on yourselves but God's wrath also on the whole community. Your kinsmen, the rest of the house of Israel, shall mourn for those whom the LORD'S fire has smitten;

▶ 모세는 아론과 그의 두 아들 엘아자르와 이타마르에게 말하였다. “머리를 풀지 말고 옷을 찢지 마십시오. 그러다가는 여러분이 죽고, 온 공동체에는 주님의 진노가 미칠 것입니다. 여러분의 형제들, 곧 이스라엘의 온 집안만이 주님께서 불살라 버리신 자들의 죽음을 애도할 수 있습니다.

but do not you go beyond the entry of the meeting tent, else you shall die; for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you." So they did as Moses told them.

▶ 여러분은 만남의 천막 어귀 밖으로 나가서는 안 됩니다. 그러다가는 죽습니다. 여러분은 주님의 기름으로 성별된 사람들이기 때문입니다.” 그들은 모세의 분부대로 하였다.

"When you are to go to the meeting tent, you and your sons are forbidden under pain of death, by a perpetual ordinance throughout your generations, to drink any wine or strong drink.
|

▶ “너와 너의 아들들이 만남의 천막 안에 들어올 때에는, 포도주나 독주를 마셔서는 안 된다. 마시면 죽을 것이다. 이는 너희가 대대로 지켜야 하는 영원한 규칙이다.

|
You must be able to distinguish between what is sacred and what is profane, between what is clean and what is unclean;

you must teach the Israelites all the laws that the LORD has given them through Moses."

you must eat it in a sacred place. This is your due from the oblations of the LORD, and that of your sons; such is the command I have received.

|
▶ 거룩한 곳에서 먹어야 합니다. 주님께 바친 화제물 가운데에서 이것이 형님의 몫이고 형님 아들들의 몫입니다. 나는 그렇게 명령을 받았습니다.

With your sons and daughters you shall also eat the breast of the wave offering and the leg of the raised offering, in a clean place; for these have been assigned to you and your children as your due from the peace offerings of the Israelites.

The leg of the raised offering and the breast of the wave offering shall first be brought in with the oblations, the fatty portions, that are to be waved as a wave offering before the LORD. Then they shall belong to you and your children by a perpetual ordinance, as the LORD has commanded."

When Moses inquired about the goat of the sin offering, he discovered that it had all been burned. So he was angry with the surviving sons of Aaron, Eleazar and Ithamar, and said,

▶ 모세는 속죄 제물로 바친 숫염소가 어찌 되었는지 조사해 보았다. 그랬더니 그것은 이미 타 버린 뒤였다. 그래서 모세는 아론의 남은 두 아들 엘아자르와 이타마르에게 화를 내며 말하였다.

Why did you not eat the sin offering in the sacred place, since it is most sacred? It has been given to you that you might bear the guilt of the community and make atonement for them before the LORD.

▶ “너희는 어찌하여 그 속죄 제물을 거룩한 곳에서 먹지 않았느냐? 그것은 가장 거룩한 것으로서, 공동체의 죄를 벗기고 주님 앞에서 그들을 위하여 속죄 예식을 거행하라고, 주님께서 너희에게 주신 것이다.

If its blood was not brought into the inmost part of the sanctuary, you should certainly have eaten the offering in the sanctuary, in keeping with the command I had received."

▶ 그 피를 성소 안으로 가져가지 않았으므로, 너희는 내가 명령한 대로 그 제물을 성소에서 먹어야 했다.”

Aaron answered Moses, "Even though they presented their sin offering and holocaust before the LORD today, yet this misfortune has befallen me. Had I then eaten of the sin offering today, would it have been pleasing to the LORD?"
|

▶ 그러자 아론이 모세에게 말하였다. "보십시오, 그들이 바로 오늘 주님 앞에 속죄 제물과 번제물을 바쳤습니다. 그런데 이런 일이 나에게 닥치다니요! 내가 오늘 속죄 제물을 먹는다 한들 주님께서 좋게 보아주시겠습니까?"

On hearing this, Moses was satisfied.
