The word of the LORD that came to Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, son of Joash, king of Israel.

In the beginning of the LORD'S speaking to Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea: Go, take a harlot wife and harlot's children, for the land gives itself to harlotry, turning away from the LORD.

▶ 호세아를 통하여 주님께서 하신 말씀의 시작. 주님께서 호세아에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 가서 창녀와 창녀의 자식들을 맞아들여라. 이 나라가 주님에게 등을 돌리고 마구 창녀 짓을 하기 때문이다.”

So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived and bore him a son.

▶ 호세아는 가서 디블라임의 딸 고메르를 아내로 맞아들였다. 그 여자가 임신하여 그에게 아들을 낳아 주자,

Then the LORD said to him: Give him the name Jezreel, for in a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed at Jezreel And bring to an end the kingdom of the house of Israel;

▶ 주님께서 호세아에게 말씀하셨다. “그의 이름을 이즈르엘이라고 하여라. 머지않아 나는 이즈르엘의 피에 대한 책임을 물어 예후 집안을 벌하고 이스라엘 집안의 왕조를 없애 버리리라.

On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

▶ 또 그날에 이스라엘의 활을 이즈르엘 평야에서 꺾어 버리리라.”

When she conceived again and bore a daughter, the LORD said to him: Give her the name Lo-ruhama; I no longer feel pity for the house of Israel: rather, I abhor them utterly.

▶ 고메르가 다시 임신하여 딸을 낳자, 주님께서 호세아에게 말씀하셨다. “그의 이름을 로 루하마라고 하여라. 나는 더 이상 이스라엘 집안을 가엾이 여기지도 않고 용서하지도 않으리라.

Yet for the house of Judah I feel pity; I will save them by the LORD, their God; But I will not save them by war, by sword or bow, by horses or horsemen.

▶ 그러나 유다 집안은 가엾이 여기고 주 그들의 하느님으로서 그들을 구해 주리라. 그렇다고 활이나 칼이나 전쟁 군마나 기병들로 그들을 구해 주지는 않으리라.”

After she weaned Lo-ruhama, she conceived and bore a son.

▶ 고메르가 로 루하마에게 젖을 뗀 다음에 다시 임신하여 아들을 낳았다.

|
Then the LORD said: Give him the name Lo-ammi, for you are not my people, and I will not be your God.
|

▶ 그러자 주님께서 말씀하셨다. “그의 이름을 로 암미라고 하여라. 너희는 내 백성이 아니며 나는 너희를 위하여 있지 않다.”
