Her cities shall be forever abandoned, given over to flocks to lie in undisturbed.

▶ 아로에르의 성읍들은 버려져 짐승들의 차지가 되고 그것들이 거기에 자리 잡아도 놀라 달아나게 할 자가 없으리라.

The fortress shall be lost to Ephraim and the kingdom to Damascus; The remnant of Aram shall have the same glory as the Israelites, says the LORD of hosts.

▶ 에프라임에서 보루가, 다마스쿠스에서 왕국이 없어지고 아람의 남은 자들은 이스라엘 자손들의 영화와 같은 꼴이 되리라. 만군의 주님의 말씀이다.

On that day The glory of Jacob shall fade, and his full body grow thin,

▶ 그날에 이러한 일이 일어나리라. 야곱의 영화는 보잘 것이 없어지고 그 몸의 기름기는 다 빠지리라.

Like the reaper's mere armful of stalks when he gathers the standing grain; Or as when one gleans the ears in the Valley of Rephaim.

▶ 이는 수확꾼이 곡식을 거두어들인 뒤 팔로 이삭을 모아들일 때와 같고 르파임 골짜기에서 이삭을 주워 모을 때와 같으리니

Only a scattering of grapes shall be left! As when an olive tree has been beaten, Two or three olives remain at the very top, four or five on its fruitful branches, says the LORD, the God of Israel.

▶ 거기에는 올리브 나무를 떨고 났을 때처럼 남은 열매를 따는 일만 남아 있을 뿐. 과일나무 끝 가지에 두세 알 줄기에 너덧 알만 남아 있으리라. 주 이스라엘의 하느님 말씀이다.

On that day man shall look to his maker, his eyes turned toward the Holy One of Israel.

He shall not look to the altars, his handiwork, nor shall he regard what his fingers have made: the sacred poles or the incense stands.

▶ 그리고 자기들 손으로 만든 작품인 제단들을 바라보지 않고, 자기들 손가락으로 만든 아세라 목상들과 분향 제단들을 쳐다보지 않을 것이다.

On that day his strong cities shall be like those abandoned by the Hivites and Amorites When faced with the children of Israel: they shall be laid waste.

▶ 그날에 그 견고한 성읍들은 이스라엘 자손들 앞에서 버리고 도망친 히위족과 아모리족의 성읍들처럼 내버려져 황폐하게 되리라.

For you have forgotten God, your savior, and remembered not the Rock, your strength. Therefore, though you plant your pagan plants and set out your foreign vine slips,

Though you make them grow the day you plant them and make your sprouts blossom on the next morning, The harvest shall disappear on the day of the grievous blow, the incurable blight.

▶ 네가 심은 그날로 자라게 하고 씨앗을 뿌린 그 아침으로 싹이 트게 하여도 그것이 병드는 날 수확은 사라져 너에게 회복할 수 없는 고통이 되리라.

Ah! the roaring of many peoples that roar like the roar of the seas! The surging of nations that surge like the surging of mighty waves!

▶ 아아, 수많은 민족들의 고함 소리! 그들은 바다가 노호하듯 고함을 지른다. 겨레들의 함성! 그들은 거대한 물이 포효하듯 함성을 지른다.

But God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far away; Windswept, like chaff on the mountains, like tumbleweed in a storm.

▶ 큰 물이 포효하듯 겨레들이 함성을 지른다. 그러나 그분께서 그들을 꾸짖으시자 그들은 멀리 도망친다. 산 위에서 바람에 날리는 겨처럼, 폭풍 앞의 방랑초처럼 그들은 쫓겨난다.

In the evening, they spread terror, before morning, they are gone! Such is the portion of those who despoil us, the lot of those who plunder us.
