▶ 불행하여라, 에프라임 주정꾼들의 거만한 화관! 그 화려한 아름다움을 잃고 시들어 버린 꽃! 술에 빠진 자들의 머리 위에, 기름진 골짜기 위에 자리 잡은 것!

Behold, the LORD has a strong one and a mighty, who, like a downpour of hail, a destructive storm, Like a flood of water, great and overflowing, levels to the ground with violence;

▶ 보라, 주님께서 보내신 힘세고 굳센 이를. 그는 우박 섞인 폭우처럼, 들부수는 폭풍처럼 엄청나게 밀려와 물을 쏟아 붓는 폭우처럼 그것을 집어 땅으로 내동댕이치리라.

The fading blooms of his glorious beauty on the head of the fertile valley Will be like an early fig before summer: when a man sees it, he picks and swallows it at once.

▶ 기름진 골짜기 위에 자리 잡은, 그 화려한 아름다움을 잃고 시들어 버린 꽃은 수확 때가 되기도 전에 익어 버린 무화과 같으리니 누구든 그것을 보게 되면 손에 잡히는 대로 삼켜 버리리라.

On that day the LORD of hosts will be a glorious crown And a brilliant diadem to the remnant of his people,

But these also stagger from wine and stumble from strong drink: Priest and prophet stagger from strong drink, overpowered by wine; Led astray by strong drink, staggering in their visions, tottering when giving judgment.

▶ 이자들마저 포도주에 취해 휘청거리고 술에 취해 비틀거린다. 사제와 예언자가 술에 취해 휘청거리고 포도주로 정신을 차리지 못한다. 술로 비틀거리고 환시 중에도 휘청거리며 판결을 내릴 때에도 비척거린다.

to whom he said: This is the resting place, give rest to the weary; Here is repose - but they would not listen.

▶ 그분께서는 예전에 이들에게 말씀하셨다. “이곳은 안식처이니 고달픈 이들을 편히 쉬게 하여라. 이곳은 쉼터이다.” 그러나 그들은 들으려 하지 않았다.

So for them the word of the LORD shall be: "Command on command, command on command, Rule on rule, rule on rule, here a little, there a little!" So that when they walk, they stumble backward, broken, ensnared, and captured.

▶ 그래서 주님께서는 그들에게 “차우 라차우 차우 라차우 카우 라카우 카우 라카우 즈에르 삼 즈에르 삼”이라고 말씀하시리니 그들이 가다가 뒤로 넘어져 다치고 덫에 걸려 포로로 잡히게 하시려는 것이다.

Therefore, hear the word of the LORD, you arrogant, who rule this people in Jerusalem:

▶ 그러므로 주님의 말씀을 들어라, 너희 빈정거리는 사내들아! 예루살렘에 사는 이 백성을 다스리는 자들아!

Because you say, "We have made a covenant with death, and with the nether world we have made a pact; When the overwhelming scourge passes, it will not reach us; For we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have found a hiding place," -

▶ 정녕 너희는 이렇게 말한다. “우리는 죽음과 계약을 맺고 저승과 협약을 체결하였지. 사나운 재앙이 지나간다 해도 우리에게는 미치지 않으니 거짓을 우리의 피신처로 삼고 속임수 속에 우리 몸을 숨겼기 때문이다.”

Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD: See, I am laying a stone in Zion, a stone that has been tested, A precious cornerstone as a sure foundation; he who puts his faith in it shall not be shaken.

I will make of right a measuring line, of justice a level. - Hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters shall flood the hiding place.

Whenever it passes, it shall take you; morning after morning it shall pass, By day and by night; terror alone shall convey the message.

For the LORD shall rise up as on Mount Perazim, bestir himself as in the Valley of Gibeon, To carry out his work, his singular work, to perform his deed, his strange deed.

▶ 과연 주님께서는 프라침 산에서처럼 일어서시고 기브온 골짜기에서처럼 격노하시리라. 이는 당신의 일을 이루시려는 것이니 그분의 일은 기이하기도 하여라. 이는 당신의 사업을 수행하시려는 것이니 그분의 사업은 기묘하기도 하여라.

Now, be arrogant no more lest your bonds be tightened, For I have heard from the Lord, the GOD of hosts, the destruction decreed for the whole earth.

▶ 자, 이제 너희는 그만 빈정거려라. 그러지 않으면 너희의 오라가 더욱 조여 오리라. 온 세상을 멸망시키기로 결정하셨다는 말씀을 내가 주 만군의 주님에게서 들었다.

Give ear and hear my voice, pay attention and listen to what I say:

Is the plowman forever plowing, always loosening and harrowing his land for planting?

▶ 농부가 씨를 뿌리려고 날마다 밭만 갈겠느냐? 제 땅을 뒤집고 써레질만 하겠느냐?

When he has leveled the surface, does he not scatter gith and sow cumin, Put in wheat and barley, with spelt as its border?

▶ 그보다는 밭을 고르고 나서 검정풀 씨를 뿌리고 소회향 씨를 뿌린 다음 줄줄이 밀을 심고 적당한 자리에 보리를, 가장자리에는 귀리를 심지 않느냐?

He has learned this rule, instructed by his God.

Gith is not threshed with a sledge, nor does a cartwheel roll over cumin. But gith is beaten out with a staff, and cumin crushed for food with a rod.

▶ 또 검정풀을 타작기로 떨지도 않고 소회향 위로 수레바퀴를 굴리지도 않는다. 오히려 검정풀은 막대기로, 소회향은 작대기로 두드린다.

No, he does not thresh it unendingly, nor does he crush it with his noisy cartwheels and horses.

▶ 밀알을 바서지도록 떨겠느냐? 아니다, 무턱대고 떨지는 않는다. 수레바퀴를 돌릴 때에도 말들이 밀알을 바수지 않게 한다.

This too comes from the LORD of hosts; wonderful is his counsel and great his wisdom.
