▶ 이집트와 맺는 동맹은 헛되다
|

|
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who depend upon horses: Who put their trust in chariots because of their number, and in horsemen because of their combined power, But look not to the Holy One of Israel nor seek the LORD!

▶ 불행하여라, 도움을 청하러 이집트로 내려가는 자들! 군마에 의지하는 자들! 그들은 병거의 수가 많다고 그것을 믿고 기병대가 막강하다고 그것을 믿으면서 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분을 바라보지도 않고 주님을 찾지도 않는다.

Yet he too is wise and will bring disaster; he will not turn from what he has threatened to do. He will rise up against the house of the wicked and against those who help evildoers.

▶ 그러나 그분 역시 지혜로우시기에 재앙을 내리시고 당신의 말씀을 거두지 않으신다. 악을 저지르는 자들의 집안에 맞서, 나쁜 짓 하는 자들을 돕는 자들에게 맞서 일어서시리라.

The Egyptians are men, not God, their horses are flesh, not spirit; When the LORD stretches forth his hand, the helper shall stumble, the one helped shall fall, and both of them shall perish together.

▶ 이집트인들은 인간일 뿐 하느님이 아니다. 그들의 군마는 고깃덩어리일 뿐 영이 아니다. 주님께서 손을 뻗치시면 돕는 자는 비틀거리고 도움을 받는 자는 쓰러져 모두 함께 망하리라.

Thus says the LORD to me: As a lion or a lion cub growling over its prey, With a band of shepherds assembled against it, Is neither frightened by their shouts nor disturbed by their noise, So shall the LORD of hosts come down to wage war upon the mountain and hill of Zion.

▶ 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “사자와 새끼 사자가 먹이를 놓고 으르렁거릴 때 목자들의 무리가 몰려와 소리쳐도 놀라지 않고 소란을 피워도 아랑곳하지 않듯 만군의 주님이 시온 산과 그 언덕에 내려와 싸워 주리라.

Like hovering birds, so the LORD of hosts shall shield Jerusalem, To protect and deliver, to spare and rescue it.

▶ 둥지 위를 맴도는 새들처럼 만군의 주님이 예루살렘을 지켜 주리라. 지키고 건져 주며 감싸고 구원해 주리라.”

On that day each one of you shall spurn his sinful idols of silver and gold, which he made with his hands.

▶ 정녕 그날에는 너희가 저마다 자신을 위하여 제 손으로 마련해 죄를 지은 은 우상과 금 우상들을 내던질 것이다.

Downfall of Assyria

Assyria shall fall by a sword not wielded by man, no mortal sword shall devour him; He shall flee before the sword, and his young men shall be impressed as laborers.

▶ 그러면 아시리아는 사람의 것이 아닌 칼에 맞아 쓰러지리라. 인간의 것이 아닌 칼이 그를 멸망시키리라. 그는 칼 앞에서 도망치고 그의 젊은이들은 강제 노동을 하게 되리라.

He shall rush past his crag in panic, and his princes shall flee in terror from his standard, Says the LORD who has a fire in Zion and a furnace in Jerusalem.

▶ 그리고 그의 반석은 질겁하여 떠나가 버리고 그의 제후들은 놀라 깃발을 버리고 달아나리라. 시온에 불을 가지고 계시고 예루살렘에 화덕을 가지고 계신 주님의 말씀이다.
