▶ 주님께서 가뭄에 대하여 예레미야에게 말씀하셨다.
|
|

|
Judah mourns, her gates are lifeless; Her people sink down in mourning: from Jerusalem ascends a cry of anguish.

|
|
▶ 유다가 슬피 울고 그 성읍들이 쇠약해져 간다. 그들이 땅에 쓰러져 통곡하고 예루살렘이 울부짖는 소리가 높이 오른다.

The nobles send their servants for water, but when they come to the cisterns They find no water and return with empty jars. Ashamed, despairing, they cover their heads

|
▶ 귀족들이 종들을 물 길으러 보내어 종들이 우물에 나와도 물을 찾지 못하고 빈 물동이를 든 채 돌아간다. 그들은 수치스럽고 부끄러워 머리를 가린다.

because of the stricken soil; Because there is no rain in the land the farmers are ashamed, they cover their heads.

▶ 땅에 비가 오지 않아 밭이 갈라지니 농부들이 부끄러워 머리를 가린다.

Even the hind in the field deserts her offspring because there is no grass.

▶ 들판의 암사슴도 새끼를 낳고는 풀이 없어서 그것을 버린다.

|
The wild asses stand on the bare heights, gasping for breath like jackals; Their eyes grow dim, because there is no vegetation to be seen.

|
|
▶ 들나귀도 벌거벗은 언덕 위에 서서 승냥이처럼 숨을 헐떡이는데 눈동자에 힘이 하나도 없다. 풀이 없는 탓이다.

Even though our crimes bear witness against us, take action, O LORD, for the honor of your name - Even though our rebellions are many, though we have sinned against you.

▶ 주님, 저희 죄악이 저희를 거슬러 증언할지라도 당신 이름을 위하여 선처하여 주소서. 정녕 저희가 당신을 수없이 배반하고 당신께 죄를 지었습니다.

O Hope of Israel, O LORD, our savior in time of need! Why should you be a stranger in this land, like a traveler who has stopped but for a night?

▶ 이스라엘의 희망이시여 당신은 재난의 때에 구원하시는 분이십니다. 어찌하여 당신께서는 이 땅에서 이방인처럼, 하룻밤 묵고자 들어선 나그네처럼 되셨습니까?

Why are you like a man dumbfounded, a champion who cannot save? You are in our midst, O LORD, your name we bear: do not forsake us!

▶ 어찌하여 당신께서는 놀란 사람처럼, 저희를 구원할 힘이 없는 용사처럼 되셨습니까? 주님, 당신께서는 저희 한가운데에 계십니다. 저희가 당신의 이름으로 불리니 저희를 버리지 마소서!

Thus says the LORD of this people: They so love to wander that they do not spare their feet. The LORD has no pleasure in them; now he remembers their guilt, and will punish their sins.

▶ 주님께서 이 백성을 두고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "그들은 떠돌아다니기를 좋아하고 발을 삼가지 못한다." 주님께서는 그들을 마음에 들어 하지 않으신다. 이제 그분께서 그들의 죄악을 기억하시고 그들의 죄를 벌하실 것이다.

Then the LORD said to me: Do not intercede for this people.
|

▶ 그런 다음 주님께서 나에게 명령하셨다. "이 백성을 위하여 행복을 빌지 마라.

If they fast, I will not listen to their supplication. If they offer holocausts or cereal offerings, I will not accept them. Rather, I will destroy them with the sword, famine, and pestilence.

▶ 그들이 단식하여도 내가 그들의 호소를 듣지 않고, 번제물과 곡식 제물을 바쳐도 받지 않겠다. 오히려 칼과 굶주림과 흑사병으로 나는 그들을 전멸시키겠다."

Ah! Lord GOD, I replied, it is the prophets who say to them, "You shall not see the sword; famine shall not befall you. Indeed, I will give you lasting peace in this place."

▶ 그때 내가 아뢰었다. "아, 주 하느님! 예언자들이 저들에게 말하기를, '너희는 칼을 보지 않고 굶주림이 너희에게 닥칠 리도 없을 것이다. 나는 이곳에서 너희에게 참평화를 주겠다.' 하였습니다."

Lies these prophets utter in my name, the LORD said to me. I did not send them; I gave them no command nor did I speak to them. Lying visions, foolish divination, dreams of their own imagination, they prophesy to you.

▶ 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. "그 예언자들이 내 이름으로 거짓말을 한 것이다. 나는 그들을 보내지도 않았고 그들에게 명령하거나 말한 적도 없다. 그들이 너희에게 예언하고 있는 것은, 거짓 환시와 엉터리 점괘와 제 마음에서 나오는 거짓말일 따름이다."

Therefore, thus says the LORD: Concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, though I did not send them; who say, "Sword and famine shall not befall this land": by the sword and famine shall these prophets meet their end.

▶ 그러므로 주님께서 그 예언자들에 관하여 이렇게 말씀하신다. "이는 내가 보내지도 않았는데 '칼과 굶주림이 이 땅에 닥치지 않을 것이다.' 하면서 내 이름으로 예언하는 예언자들을 두고 하는 말이다. 그 예언자들은 칼과 굶주림으로 전멸할 것이다.

The people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out into the streets of Jerusalem by famine and the sword. No one shall bury them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour out upon them their own wickedness.

▶ 그들의 예언을 듣는 백성도 굶어 죽고 칼에 맞아 예루살렘 거리에 내던져질 것이고, 그들과 그들의 아내와 아들딸들을 묻어 줄 자가 아무도 없을 것이다. 이렇게 내가 악의 대가를 그들에게 쏟아 붓겠다."

Speak to them this word: Let my eyes stream with tears day and night, without rest, Over the great destruction which overwhelms the virgin daughter of my people, over her incurable wound.

▶ 그들에게 이 말을 하여라. 내 눈에서 눈물이 흘러 밤낮으로 그치지 않는다. 처녀 딸 내 백성이 몹시 얻어맞아 너무도 참혹한 상처를 입었기 때문이다.

If I walk out into the field, look! those slain by the sword; If I enter the city, look! those consumed by hunger. Even the prophet and the priest forage in a land they know not.

▶ 들에 나가면 칼에 맞아 죽은 자들뿐이요 성읍에 들어가면 굶주림으로 병든 자들뿐이다. 정녕 예언자도 사제도 어찌할 바를 모르고 나라 안을 헤매고 다닌다.

Have you cast Judah off completely? Is Zion loathsome to you? Why have you struck us a blow that cannot be healed? We wait for peace, to no avail; for a time of healing, but terror comes instead.

▶ 당신께서 완전히 유다를 버리셨습니까? 아니면 당신께서 시온을 지겨워하십니까? 어찌하여 당신께서는 회복할 수 없도록 저희를 치셨습니까? 평화를 바랐으나 좋은 일 하나 없고 회복할 때를 바랐으나 두려운 일뿐입니다.

We recognize, O LORD, our wickedness, the guilt of our fathers; that we have sinned against you.

▶ 주님, 저희의 사악함과 조상들의 죄악을 인정합니다. 참으로 저희가 당신께 죄를 지었습니다.

For your name's sake spurn us not, disgrace not the throne of your glory; remember your covenant with us, and break it not.

▶ 당신의 이름을 위해서 저희를 내쫓지 마시고 당신의 영광스러운 옥좌를 멸시하지 마소서. 저희와 맺으신 당신의 계약을 기억하시고 그 계약을 깨뜨리지 마소서.

|
Among the nations' idols is there any that gives rain? Or can the mere heavens send showers? Is it not you alone, O LORD, our God, to whom we look? You alone have done all these things.

▶ 이민족들의 헛것들 가운데 어떤 것이 비를 내려 줄 수 있습니까? 하늘이 스스로 소나기를 내릴 수 있습니까? 그런 분은 주 저희 하느님이신 바로 당신이 아니십니까? 그러기에 저희는 당신께 희망을 둡니다. 당신께서 이 모든 것을 만드셨기 때문입니다.
