This word the prophet Jeremiah spoke to all the people of Judah and all the citizens of Jerusalem:

▶ 예언자 예레미야가 유다의 모든 백성과 예루살렘의 모든 주민에게 이렇게 말하였다.

|
Since the thirteenth year of Josiah, son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day-these three and twenty years-the word of the LORD has come to me and I spoke to you untiringly, but you would not listen.
|

Though you refused to listen or pay heed, the LORD has sent you without fail all his servants the prophets
|

|
|
▶ 주님께서 여러분에게 당신의 모든 종들, 곧 예언자들을 줄곧 보내셨으나, 여러분은 듣지도 않았고 들으려고 귀를 기울이지도 않았습니다.

with this message: Turn back, each of you, from your evil way and from your evil deeds; then you shall remain in the land which the LORD gave you and your fathers, from of old and forever.

▶ 그분께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘너희는 제발 저마다 제 악한 길과 악한 행실에서 돌아오너라. 그러면 주님이 너희와 너희 조상들에게 예로부터 영원히 준 땅에서 살 것이다.

|
Do not follow strange gods to serve and adore them, lest you provoke me with your handiwork, and I bring evil upon you.

▶ 다른 신들을 따라가 그들을 섬기고 예배하며 너희 손으로 만든 것들로 나를 진노케 하지 마라. 그러면 내가 너희를 해치지 않겠다.

But you would not listen to me, says the LORD, and so you provoked me with your handiwork to your own harm.

Hence, thus says the LORD of hosts: Since you would not listen to my words,

▶ 그러므로 만군의 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. ‘너희가 내 말을 듣지 않았기 때문에,

|
lo! I will send for and fetch all the tribes of the north, says the LORD (and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, my servant); I will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against all these neighboring nations. I will doom them, making them an object of horror, of ridicule, of everlasting reproach.

▶ 이제 나는 북쪽의 모든 족속들을, 나의 종 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르에게 불러 모으겠다. 주님의 말씀이다. 내가 저들을 데려와 이 땅과 이곳의 모든 주민과 주변의 모든 민족들을 치게 하여 그들을 완전히 멸망시키고, 그들을 폐허와 놀림감과 영원한 황무지로 만들겠다.

Among them I will bring to an end the song of joy and the song of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstone and the light of the lamp.

▶ 그리고 그들에게서 기쁜 소리와 즐거운 소리, 신랑 신부의 소리, 맷돌질과 등잔 빛을 사라지게 하겠다.

This whole land shall be a ruin and a desert. Seventy years these nations shall be enslaved to the king of Babylon;

|
|
|
▶ 이 땅은 온통 황무지와 폐허가 될 것이다. 그리고 이 땅의 민족들은 일흔 해 동안 바빌론 임금을 섬길 것이다.

|
but when the seventy years have elapsed, I will punish the king of Babylon and the nation and the land of the Chaldeans for their guilt, says the LORD. Their land I will turn into everlasting desert.
|

▶ 그러나 그 일흔 해가 끝난 뒤에는 내가 바빌론 임금과 저 민족도 그들의 잘못을 물어 칼데아인들의 땅과 함께 벌하고, 그들을 영원한 폐허로 만들겠다. 주님의 말씀이다.

|
Against that land I will fulfill all the words I have spoken against it (all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations).

▶ 나는 저 땅을 거슬러 한 모든 말을, 예레미야가 모든 민족들을 거슬러 예언한 일을 이 책에 기록된 대로 그곳에 이루어 놓겠다.

They also shall be enslaved to great nations and mighty kings, and thus I will repay them according to their own deeds and according to their own handiwork.

▶ 이제는 참으로 바빌론 사람들이 많은 민족과 큰 임금들을 섬기게 될 것이다. 내가 그들의 행실과 그들 손으로 만든 것에 대해 그들에게 되갚아 주겠다.’”

|
For thus said the LORD, the God of Israel, to me: Take this cup of foaming wine from my hand, and have all the nations to whom I will send you drink it.

▶ 주 이스라엘의 하느님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하신다. “너는 이 분노의 술잔을 내 손에서 받아라. 내가 너를 보내는 모든 민족들에게 이 잔을 마시게 하여라.

They shall drink, and be convulsed, and go mad, because of the sword I will send among them.
|

|
▶ 그들은 이 잔을 마시고 내가 그들 가운데에 보내는 칼로 말미암아 비틀거리며 미치게 될 것이다.”

|
I took the cup from the hand of the LORD and gave drink to all the nations to which the LORD sent me:

(Jerusalem, the cities of Judah, her kings and her princes, to make them a ruin and a desert, an object of ridicule and cursing, as they are today;)

and foreign; all the kings of the land of Uz; all the kings of the land of the Philistines: Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

all the kings of the north, near and far, one after the other; all the kingdoms upon the face of the earth (and after them the king of Sheshach shall drink).

Tell them: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink! become drunk and vomit; fall, never to rise, before the sword that I will send among you!

If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, say to them: Thus says the LORD of hosts: You must drink!

For since with this city, which is called by my name, I begin to inflict evil, how can you possibly be spared? You shall not be spared! I will call down the sword upon all who inhabit the earth, says the LORD of hosts.

▶ 보라, 내 이름으로 불리는 그 도성에 내가 재앙을 일으키기 시작하는데, 너희가 벌받지 않을 수 있겠느냐? 너희는 벌받지 않을 수 없으리니, 내가 이 땅의 모든 주민에게 칼을 불러들이고 있기 때문이다. 만군의 주님의 말씀이다.’”

|
Prophesy against them all these things and say to them: The LORD roars from on high, from his holy dwelling he raises his voice; Mightily he roars over the range, a shout like that of vintagers over the grapes.

▶ 그러므로 너는 이 모든 말로 그들을 거슬러 예언하여라. 그들에게 이렇게 말하여라. “주님께서 높은 곳에서 고함치시고 거룩한 처소에서 소리를 지르신다. 그분께서 당신의 목장을 향해 큰 소리로 고함치시고 포도를 밟는 자들처럼 땅의 모든 주민에게 호령하신다.

|
To all who inhabit the earth to its very ends the uproar spreads; For the LORD has an indictment against the nations, he is to pass judgment upon all mankind: The godless shall be given to the sword, says the LORD.
|

▶ 벽력 같은 소리가 땅 끝까지 미친다. 참으로 주님께서 민족들과 시비를 가리시고 그분께서 모든 인간을 심판하시며 사악한 자들을 칼에 넘기신다. 주님의 말씀이다.

|
Thus says the LORD of hosts: Lo! calamity stalks from nation to nation; A great storm is unleashed from the ends of the earth.
|

|
▶ 만군의 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. ‘이제 재앙이 민족에서 민족으로 퍼져 나가고 거센 폭풍이 땅 맨 끝에서 일어나리라.’”

|
On that day, those whom the LORD has slain will be strewn from one end of the earth to the other. None will mourn them, none will gather them for burial; they shall lie like dung on the field.
|

▶ 그날 주님께 죽임을 당한 자들이 땅 이 끝에서 저 끝에 이르기까지 널려 있는데도, 그들을 애도할 사람이 없고, 그들을 거두어 묻어 줄 사람도 없으리니, 그들은 땅바닥에 뒹구는 거름이 될 것이다.

Howl, you shepherds, and wail! roll in the dust, leaders of the flock! The time for your slaughter has come; like choice rams you shall fall.

▶ 목자들아, 통곡하고 울부짖어라. 양 떼의 지도자들아, 땅에 뒹굴어라. 너희가 살해될 날이 다 차 오고 있다. 그러면 너희는 흩어지고 값비싼 그릇이 깨지듯 쓰러지리라.

|
There is no flight for the shepherds, no escape for the leaders of the flock.
|

▶ 목자들은 아무런 피신처도 없고 양 떼의 지도자들은 아무런 도피처도 없으리라.

|
Listen! Wailing from the shepherds, howling by the leaders of the flock! For the LORD lays waste their grazing place,

▶ 목자들이 울부짖는 저 소리! 양 떼의 지도자들의 저 통곡 소리! 주님께서 저들의 목장을 황폐하게 만드시기 때문이다.

desolate lie the peaceful pastures;

▶ 주님의 타오르는 분노로 평화로운 목장이 황폐해지는구나.

|
The lion leaves his lair, and their land is made desolate By the sweeping sword, by the burning wrath of the LORD.

|
▶ 그분께서는 사자처럼 굴을 떠나셨다. 정녕 압제자의 분노와 그분의 타오르는 분노로 그들의 땅이 폐허가 되는구나.
