▶ 유다 임금 요시야의 아들 치드키야가 다스리기 시작할 무렵에 주님에게서 이런 말씀이 예레미야에게 내렸다.

Thus said the LORD to me: Make for yourself bands and yoke bars and put them over your shoulders.
|

▶ 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “너는 끈과 나무로 멍에를 만들어 그것을 목에 메어라.

Send to the kings of Edom, of Moab, of the Ammonites, of Tyre, and of Sidon, through the ambassadors who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah, king of Judah,

▶ 그러고 나서 그것들을 에돔 임금과 모압 임금과 암몬 자손들의 임금과 티로 임금과 시돈 임금에게, 유다 임금 치드키야를 만나러 예루살렘에 와 있는 사절단들의 손에 들려 보내라.

and charge them thus: Tell your masters: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel:

▶ 또한 그 주군들에게 이러한 말도 전하여라. ‘만군의 주 이스라엘의 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. 너희는 너희 주군들에게 이렇게 말하여라.

It was I who made the earth, and man and beast on the face of the earth, by my great power, with my outstretched arm; and I can give them to whomever I think fit.

▶ ′큰 권능과 뻗은 팔로 이 세상과 거기에 있는 사람과 짐승을 만든 이는 바로 나다. 나는 이 세상을 내가 보기에 올곧은 이에게 주겠다.

Now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, my servant; even the beasts of the field I have given him for his use.

▶ 이제 나는 이 모든 나라를 나의 종 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르 손에 맡겼고, 들짐승까지도 그에게 맡겨 그를 섬길 것이다.

All nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time of his land, too, shall come. Then it in turn shall serve great nations and mighty kings.

▶ 모든 민족들이 그와 그의 아들과 손자를 섬길 것이다. 그런 다음 그의 나라에도 때가 올 것이다. 그러면 많은 민족들과 큰 임금들이 그를 종으로 삼을 것이다.

Meanwhile, if any nation or kingdom will not serve Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, or will not bend its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will punish that nation with sword, famine, and pestilence, says the LORD, until I give them into his hand.

▶ 그러나 어느 민족이나 왕국이든지 이 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르를 섬기지 않고 바빌론 임금의 멍에 밑에 제 목을 내밀지 않으면, 내가 칼과 굶주림과 흑사병으로 그 민족을 징벌하여, 그의 손으로 그들을 없애 버리겠다. 주님의 말씀이다.

You, however, must not listen to your prophets, to your diviners and dreamers, to your soothsayers and sorcerers, who say to you, "You need not serve the king of Babylon."

▶ 너희는 바빌론 임금을 섬기지 않게 될 것이라고 말하는 너희의 예언자들과 점쟁이들과 해몽가들과 요술사들과 마술사들의 말을 듣지 마라.

For they prophesy lies to you, in order to drive you far from your land, to make me banish you so that you will perish.

▶ 그들이 너희에게 예언하는 것은 거짓이다. 너희는 결국 고향 땅에서 멀리 쫓겨날 것이다. 내가 너희를 몰아내고 멸망시키겠다.

The people that submits its neck to the yoke of the king of Babylon to serve him I will leave in peace on its own land, says the LORD, to till it and dwell in it.

▶ 그러나 바빌론 임금의 멍에 밑에 제 목을 내밀고 그를 섬기는 민족은, 고향 땅에 남아 농사를 지으며 그곳에서 살게 하겠다. 주님의 말씀이다.′’”

To Zedekiah, king of Judah, I spoke the same words: Submit your necks to the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, so that you may live.

Why should you and your people die by sword, famine, and pestilence, with which the LORD has threatened the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

▶ 어찌하여 임금님과 임금님의 백성은 칼과 굶주림과 흑사병으로 죽으려 합니까? 주님께서 바빌론 임금을 섬기지 않는 민족은 누구나 그와 같이 되리라고 말씀하신 적이 있습니다.

|
Do not listen to the words of those prophets who say, "You need not serve the king of Babylon," for they prophesy lies to you.
|

|
|
▶ 여러분은 바빌론 임금을 섬기지 않게 될 것이라고 여러분에게 말하는 예언자들의 말은 듣지 마십시오. 그들이 여러분에게 예언한 것은 거짓입니다.

I did not send them, says the LORD, but they prophesy falsely in my name, with the result that I must banish you, and you will perish, you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.

▶ 주님의 말씀입니다. ‘내가 그들을 보내지 않았는데도, 그들은 내 이름으로 거짓 예언을 하고 있다. 그러므로 내가 너희를 몰아내리니, 너희는 너희에게 예언한 예언자들과 더불어 멸망할 것이다.’”

To the priests and to all the people I spoke as follows: Thus says the LORD: Do not listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you: "The vessels of the house of the LORD will be brought back from Babylon soon now," for they prophesy lies to you.

Do not listen to them! Serve the king of Babylon that you may live; else this city will become a heap of ruins.

▶ 그들의 말을 듣지 말고 바빌론 임금을 섬기십시오. 그러면 살 것입니다. 어찌하여 이 도성이 불모지가 되어야 하겠습니까?

|
If they were prophets, if the word of the LORD were with them, they would intercede with the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which remain in the house of the LORD and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem might not be taken to Babylon.

▶ 그러므로 그들이 예언자라면, 또 주님의 말씀이 그들과 함께 있다면, 그들은 주님의 집과 유다 왕궁과 예루살렘에 남아 있는 기물들이 더 이상 바빌론으로 가지 않도록 만군의 주님께 간청해야 할 것입니다.

For thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, the bronze sea, the stands, and the rest of the vessels that remain in this city,

which Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, did not take when he exiled Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem -

yes, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem:

To Babylon they shall be brought, and there they shall remain, until the day I look for them, says the LORD; then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.
