On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
|

▶ 사흘째 되는 날, 갈릴래아 카나에서 혼인 잔치가 있었는데, 예수님의 어머니도 거기에 계셨다.

Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
|

|
▶ 예수님도 제자들과 함께 그 혼인 잔치에 초대를 받으셨다.
|
|

|
When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine."
|

|
|
|
|
▶ 그런데 포도주가 떨어지자 예수님의 어머니가 예수님께 “포도주가 없구나.” 하였다.
|

|
Jesus said to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come."
|

|
|
|
▶ 예수님께서 어머니에게 말씀하셨다. “여인이시여, 저에게 무엇을 바라십니까? 아직 저의 때가 오지 않았습니다.”

His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you."
|

|
|
|
▶ 그분의 어머니는 일꾼들에게 “무엇이든지 그가 시키는 대로 하여라.” 하고 말하였다.

|
Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons.
|

|
|
▶ 거기에는 유다인들의 정결례에 쓰는 돌로 된 물독 여섯 개가 놓여 있었는데, 모두 두세 동이들이였다.

Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim.

▶ 예수님께서 일꾼들에게 “물독에 물을 채워라.” 하고 말씀하셨다. 그들이 물독마다 가득 채우자,

|
Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it.
|

|
|
|
▶ 예수님께서 그들에게 다시, “이제는 그것을 퍼서 과방장에게 날라다 주어라.” 하셨다. 그들은 곧 그것을 날라 갔다.

And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from, the headwaiter called the bridegroom
|

▶ 과방장은 포도주가 된 물을 맛보고 그것이 어디에서 났는지 알지 못하였지만, 물을 퍼 간 일꾼들은 알고 있었다. 그래서 과방장이 신랑을 불러

and said to him, "Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now."

▶ 그에게 말하였다. “누구든지 먼저 좋은 포도주를 내놓고, 손님들이 취하면 그보다 못한 것을 내놓는데, 지금까지 좋은 포도주를 남겨 두셨군요.”

Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.

▶ 이렇게 예수님께서는 처음으로 갈릴래아 카나에서 표징을 일으키시어, 당신의 영광을 드러내셨다. 그리하여 제자들은 예수님을 믿게 되었다.

After this, he and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days.
|

▶ 그 뒤에 예수님께서는 어머니와 형제들과 제자들과 함께 카파르나움으로 내려가셨다. 그러나 그곳에 여러 날 머무르지는 않으셨다.

Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
|

|
▶ 유다인들의 파스카 축제가 가까워지자 예수님께서는 예루살렘에 올라가셨다.
|
|

|
He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money-changers seated there.
|

|
|
▶ 그리고 성전에 소와 양과 비둘기를 파는 자들과 환전꾼들이 앉아 있는 것을 보시고,
|
|

|
He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables,
|

|
|
▶ 끈으로 채찍을 만드시어 양과 소와 함께 그들을 모두 성전에서 쫓아내셨다. 또 환전상들의 돈을 쏟아 버리시고 탁자들을 엎어 버리셨다.

|
and to those who sold doves he said, "Take these out of here, and stop making my Father's house a marketplace."

▶ 비둘기를 파는 자들에게는, “이것들을 여기에서 치워라. 내 아버지의 집을 장사하는 집으로 만들지 마라.” 하고 이르셨다.

His disciples recalled the words of scripture, "Zeal for your house will consume me."
|

|
|
▶ 그러자 제자들은 “당신 집에 대한 열정이 저를 집어삼킬 것입니다.”라고 성경에 기록된 말씀이 생각났다.

At this the Jews answered and said to him, "What sign can you show us for doing this?"

|
|
|
▶ 그때에 유다인들이 예수님께, “당신이 이런 일을 해도 된다는 무슨 표징을 보여 줄 수 있소?” 하고 말하였다.

|
Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up."
|

|
|
|
▶ 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. “이 성전을 허물어라. 그러면 내가 사흘 안에 다시 세우겠다.”
|

|
The Jews said, "This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?"
|

|
|
|
|
▶ 유다인들이 말하였다. “이 성전을 마흔여섯 해나 걸려 지었는데, 당신이 사흘 안에 다시 세우겠다는 말이오?”
|

|
But he was speaking about the temple of his body.
|

|
|
▶ 그러나 그분께서 성전이라고 하신 것은 당신 몸을 두고 하신 말씀이었다.
|

|
Therefore, when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they came to believe the scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.

|
▶ 예수님께서 죽은 이들 가운데에서 되살아나신 뒤에야, 제자들은 예수님께서 이 말씀을 하신 것을 기억하고, 성경과 그분께서 이르신 말씀을 믿게 되었다.

While he was in Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, many began to believe in his name when they saw the signs he was doing.

▶ 파스카 축제 때에 예수님께서 예루살렘에 계시는 동안, 많은 사람이 그분께서 일으키신 표징들을 보고 그분의 이름을 믿었다.

But Jesus would not trust himself to them because he knew them all,
|

|
|
|
▶ 그러나 예수님께서는 그들을 신뢰하지 않으셨다. 그분께서 모든 사람을 다 알고 계셨기 때문이다.

|
and did not need anyone to testify about human nature. He himself understood it well.
|

|
|
|
|
▶ 그분께는 사람에 관하여 누가 증언해 드릴 필요가 없었다. 사실 예수님께서는 사람 속에 들어 있는 것까지 알고 계셨다.
