Rejoice not, O Israel, exult not like the nations! For you have been unfaithful to your God, loving a harlot's hire upon every threshing floor.

▶ 이스라엘아, 기뻐하지 마라. 다른 민족들처럼 기뻐 뛰지 마라. 너희는 너희 하느님을 떠나 불륜을 저지르고 모든 곡식 타작마당에서 해웃값 받기를 좋아하였다.

Threshing floor and wine press shall not nourish them, the new wine shall fail them.

▶ 그러나 타작마당과 포도 확은 그들을 먹이지 못하고 햇포도주는 그들을 속이고 말리라.

|
They shall not dwell in the LORD'S land; Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and in Assyria they shall eat unclean food.

▶ 주님의 땅에서 그들은 살 수 없으리라. 에프라임은 이집트로 돌아가고 아시리아에서 부정한 음식을 먹으리라.

They shall not pour libations of wine to the LORD, or proffer their sacrifices before him. Theirs will be like mourners' bread, that makes unclean all who eat of it; Such food as they have shall be for themselves; it cannot enter the house of the LORD.

▶ 그들은 주님께 포도주를 부어 드릴 수 없고 그들의 희생 제물도 그분께 달갑지 않으리라. 그것은 초상집 음식과 같아 그것을 먹는 자마다 부정하게 되리라. 그들의 음식은 저희 목구멍을 위한 것일 뿐 주님의 집에는 들여갈 수 없다.

When they go from the ruins, Egypt shall gather them in, Memphis shall bury them. Weeds shall overgrow their silver treasures, and thorns invade their tents.

▶ 보라, 그들이 파멸을 피해 간다 하여도 이집트가 그들을 모아들이고 멤피스가 그들을 묻으리라. 은으로 된 그들의 보화는 쐐기풀이 차지하고 엉겅퀴가 그들의 천막에 들어앉으리라.

They have come, the days of punishment! they have come, the days of recompense! Let Israel know it! "The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is mad!" Because your iniquity is great, great, too, is your hostility.

A prophet is Ephraim's watchman with God, yet a fowler's snare is on all his ways, hostility in the house of his God.

▶ 예언자는 나의 하느님을 위한 에프라임의 파수꾼. 그러나 그가 가는 길마다 새잡이 그물이 쳐 있고 적대심이 그 예언자의 하느님 집에까지 자리 잡고 있다.

They have sunk to the depths of corruption, as in the days of Gibeah; He shall remember their iniquity and punish their sins.

Like grapes in the desert, I found Israel; Like the first fruits of the fig tree in its prime, I considered your fathers. When they came to Baal-peor and consecrated themselves to the Shame, they became as abhorrent as the thing they loved.

▶ 내가 처음 만났을 때 이스라엘은 광야의 포도송이 같았다. 내가 처음 보았을 때 너희 조상들은 첫 절기의 무화과나무 맏물 같았다. 그러나 바알 프오르에 이르자 그들은 우상에 몸을 바쳐 저희가 사랑하던 것처럼 혐오스럽게 되어 버렸다.

The glory of Ephraim flies away like a bird: no birth, no carrying in the womb, no conception. Were they to bear children, I would slay the darlings of their womb.

▶ 에프라임의 영광은 새처럼 날아가 버려 더 이상 출산도 임신도 수태도 없으리라.

Even though they bring up their children, I will make them childless, till not one is left. Woe to them when I turn away from them!

Ephraim, as I saw, was like Tyre, planted in a beauteous spot; But Ephraim shall bring out his children to the slayer.

▶ 제가 보기에 에프라임은 풀밭에 심긴 티로와 같았습니다. 그러나 이제 에프라임은 제 자식들을 도살자에게 끌고 가야 합니다.

Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up; they shall bear no fruit.

▶ 에프라임은 찍히고 뿌리가 말라 열매를 맺지 못하리라. 그들이 자식들을 낳는다 하여도 나는 그들의 태에서 나온 그 소중한 것들을 죽이리라.

My God will disown them because they have not listened to him; they shall be wanderers among the nations.
