But you, Bethlehem-Ephrathah too small to be among the clans of Judah, From you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel; Whose origin is from of old, from ancient times.

▶ 그러나 너 에프라타의 베들레헴아 너는 유다 부족들 가운데에서 보잘것없지만 나를 위하여 이스라엘을 다스릴 이가 너에게서 나오리라. 그의 뿌리는 옛날로, 아득한 시절로 거슬러 올라간다.

(Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time when she who is to give birth has borne, And the rest of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel.)

▶ 그러므로 해산하는 여인이 아이를 낳을 때까지 주님은 그들을 내버려 두리라. 그 뒤에 그의 형제들 가운데 남은 자들이 이스라엘 자손들에게 돌아오리라.

He shall stand firm and shepherd his flock by the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD, his God; And they shall remain, for now his greatness shall reach to the ends of the earth;

▶ 그는 주님의 능력에 힘입어 주 그의 하느님 이름의 위엄에 힘입어 목자로 나서리라. 그러면 그들은 안전하게 살리니 이제 그가 땅 끝까지 위대해질 것이기 때문이다.

he shall be peace. If Assyria invades our country and treads upon our land, We shall raise against it seven shepherds, eight men of royal rank;

▶ 그리고 그 자신이 평화가 되리라. 아시리아가 우리 나라를 쳐들어와서 우리 땅을 밟으면 우리는 그들을 거슬러 일곱 목자와 여덟 제후를 세우리라.

And they shall tend the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the drawn sword; And we shall be delivered from Assyria, if it invades our land and treads upon our borders.

▶ 그들은 아시리아 땅을 칼로 다스리고 니므롯 땅을 검으로 다스리리라. 아시리아가 우리 나라를 쳐들어와서 우리 국경을 밟으면 그가 우리를 아시리아에서 구출하리라.

The remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples, Like dew coming from the LORD, like raindrops on the grass, Which wait for no man, nor tarry for the sons of men.

▶ 그때에 야곱의 남은 자들은 수많은 민족 가운데에서 주님께서 내려 주시는 이슬처럼, 풀 위에 내리는 비처럼 되리라. 사람에게 바라지도 않고 인간에게 희망을 두지도 않는 비처럼 되리라.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, Like a lion among beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep; When it passes through, it tramples and tears, and there is none to deliver.

▶ 야곱의 남은 자들은 민족들 가운데에서 수많은 백성 한가운데에서 숲 속 짐승들 사이에 있는 사자처럼, 양 떼 속에 있는 힘센 사자처럼 되리라. 지나다니며 먹이를 밟고 찢어도 누구 하나 빼내지 못하는 힘센 사자처럼 되리라.

Your hand shall be lifted above your foes, and all your enemies shall be destroyed.

▶ 너의 손은 적들 위로 높이 들리고 너의 원수들은 모두 파멸하리라.

On that day, says the LORD, I will destroy the horses from your midst and ruin your chariots;

▶ 주님의 말씀이다. 그날에 나는 네 가운데에서 군마들을 없애고 병거들을 부수어 버리리라.

I will demolish the cities of your land and tear down all your fortresses.

▶ 네 땅의 성읍들을 없애 버리고 요새들을 모두 허물어 버리리라.

I will abolish the means of divination from your use, and there shall no longer be soothsayers among you.

▶ 나는 또 네 손에서 마술을 없애 버리리니 너에게 다시는 마술사들이 없으리라.

I will abolish your carved images and the sacred pillars from your midst; And you shall no longer adore the works of your hands.

▶ 너의 우상들을 없애고 네 가운데에서 기념 기둥들을 없애 버리리니 너는 네 손으로 만든 것에 더 이상 절하지 않으리라.

I will tear out the sacred poles from your midst, and destroy your cities.

▶ 나는 네 안에서 아세라 목상들을 뽑아 버리고 성읍들을 파괴하리라.

I will wreak vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not hearkened.
