In the year the general sent by Sargon, king of Assyria, fought against Ashdod and captured it,

▶ 아시리아 임금 사르곤이 파견한 총사령관이 아스돗으로 진군해 와서, 아스돗을 공격하여 그곳을 점령하던 해의 일이다.

the LORD gave a warning through Isaiah, the son of Amoz: Go and take off the sackcloth from your waist, and remove the sandals from your feet. This he did, walking naked and barefoot.

▶ 그때에 주님께서 아모츠의 아들 이사야를 시켜 이렇게 이르셨다. “자, 네 허리에 두른 자루옷을 풀고 네 발에서 신을 벗어라.” 그는 그렇게 하고서 알몸과 맨발로 다녔다.

Then the LORD said: Just as my servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and portent against Egypt and Ethiopia,

▶ 그 뒤에 주님께서 말씀하셨다. “나의 종 이사야가 이집트와 에티오피아에 대한 표징과 예표로서, 삼 년 동안 알몸과 맨발로 다닌 것처럼,

so shall the king of Assyria lead away captives from Egypt, and exiles from Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered (the shame of Egypt).

▶ 그렇게 아시리아 임금이 이집트 포로들과 에티오피아 유배자들을 젊은이나 늙은이나 할 것 없이, 이집트에게 수치스럽게도, 엉덩이까지 드러낸 채 알몸과 맨발로 끌고 갈 것이다.

They shall be dismayed and ashamed because of Ethiopia, their hope, and because of Egypt, their boast.

▶ 그러면 사람들은 자기네 희망이었던 에티오피아와 자기네 자랑이었던 이집트 때문에 놀라며 부끄러워할 것이다.

The inhabitants of this coastland shall say on that day, "Look at our hope! We have fled here for help and deliverance from the king of Assyria; where can we flee now?"

▶ 그리고 그날에 이 바닷가 주민들은 말할 것이다. ‘보라, 우리의 희망이었던 나라가 이 꼴이 되었구나. 아시리아 임금에게서 구해 달라고 도움을 청하러 그곳으로 도망쳤었는데, 이제 우리는 어떻게 난을 피한단 말인가?’”
